NOT V2.1 as described, BUT V2.1 + EDR instead (also, mine had a bad charging port)
The charging port does not accept the cable provided. It's the right cable although the barrel is a bit too long, but it will not seat properly resulting in eradicate charging. In other words if I want it to charge, I have to hold the cable.Because of the bad charging port, I opted to return this unit and re-order another in hopes of better luck (returns are not a problem with Amazon Fulfillment). After placing the new order, I decided to try the unit out before returning it using the initial charge it had on delivery. Much to my surprise, the output level was super low, not my experience with other V2.1 Bluetooth receivers, but is evident in all higher versions (V2.1 + EDR and up). When I read the description on the product packaging, I discovered the product page description is wrong. This unit uses Bluetooth Specifications V2.1 + EDR, not V2.1 as described, which greatly reduces the output level of this device. I immediately cancelled my new order.(I have several different versions of Bluetooth devices and use them in different applications. As a V2.1 + EDR unit, it performs as well as other same version receivers, but if you are looking for V2.1 receiver and with the charging problem, I cannot recommend this item.)

It works but it is very inconvenient
Worked well for at least a year and I believe it is still working in my friend's car right now. I got a better bluetooth receiver because of several minor annoyances with this one. Not sure if this claims to be able to make or take calls but neither is possible. The biggest problem with this bluetooth receiver is that it is clearly outdated even when I bought it over a year ago. I have stuck with the iPhone 4S since a couple months after it came out so I have an outdated phone by many people's standards. My iPhone 4S will not connect to the product unless I go into the settings and "Forget this Device" every single time that I want to connect. I have a very old iPod touch (probably 2nd or 3rd generation, 64GB without a camera) that would connect by simply clicking the name for the bluetooth device but it was the only device. I tried connecting my macbook pro to the device and it claimed that it wouldn't be able to for whatever reason. This could be similar across all bluetooth devices because I haven't tried since I bought the new bluetooth receiver. This device does not auto-connect to any of my apple devices and needs to be turned on every time that you want to use it. It will turn itself off when disconnected for a set amount of time (probably 5 minutes or less). There is only one button which makes it convenient to remember who to turn it on, off, and connect to new devices (or old devices). Definitely not the best bluetooth receiver but it will work. The charger is a USB that plugs into the side of the product, no problems with charging but if you don't have a USB within about one foot of your AUX input then you should by another product. The product will play music and work properly while charging. I recommend the Kinivo BTC450 because it stays plugged in, the plug has a USB available which I use to charge my phone, you can make phone calls and I have yet to hear a complaint about the volume of my voice even though the device is attached to my shifter.

Perfect. I've been looking for these for awhile now. Clean sound!
I purchased the Britelink Bluetooth Audio Receiver: Portable, Bluetooth Music Receiver with Stereo Output (3.5 mm) for Home and Auto Stereo Systems and Britelink Bluetooth Audio Transmitter- Portable, Bluetooth Music Transmitter for 3.5 mm Audio Devices Wireless Streaming iPod,MP3,MP4,TV,media players to use with my cycling helmet while riding so I could get rid of my cable that was always getting caught on my Camelback straps when I would turn my head from side to side. This transmitter and receiver work great, really good range and clean sound and they last a long time. So far I have tried these with my Toshiba Laptop and a set of Cygnet Totem speakers (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cygnett-Portable-Speaker-Playback-Rechargeable/dp/B004LFEN76/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1348808812&sr=8-1-spell) (can't get them through Amazon US, I got mine from a brick and mortar computer store) (hooked up using a y-adapter for stereo), and My Zune 80gb media player with the same speakers and also through my JVC KW-XR610 receiver in my truck, all sound very good.I can see where some people are having trouble getting them to pair, it took me a few tries at first but follow the instructions and it works very well. To pair the Britelink Reciever and Britelink Transmitter: Make sure to turn on the receiver first by holding the power button down for about 6 seconds until it powers on and the light switches between red and blue (somewhat rapidly). Next turn on the Transmitter by holding the power button down for about 6 seconds until it powers on and the light switches between red and blue (somewhat rapidly). After a few seconds the lights on the transmitter and receiver should both switch to a blue light blinking twice rapidly every 4 seconds or so. The units are now paired. If it does not connect on the first try, plug the power connecter in and connect to a usb port for a few seconds, disconnect the power cord and repeat the process making sure to put both devices into pairing mode. These work so well for me that I am going to buy 2 more sets; That way I will have one I can leave in my truck, keep one on my cycling helmet and a spare set in case I get clumsy.Update:I just used these on a long road trip from Colorado to Georgia and they work beautifully. They seem to have a preamp circuit in them, they make my mp3 player sound better then when hooked up with a cable from the earphone jack to the auxillary input on a stereo. They provide a long play time on the rechargeable battery, I was getting about 8 or so hours out of them. You will get a beep tone through the speakers when the battery is about to die. You cannot use them when charging but that is not to bad, I am just going to buy more of them.
