IT ISN'T JUST FOR GPU VRM!!
I recently purchased an MSI Gaming Edge DDR4 Z690 board and noticed my PCH temps were a little out of control during extended gaming sessions. At one point, the PCH got to 92C so I decided to do a little research on it. Well, the Intel spec is slightly confusing but I concluded that my PCH was operating within specification. However, my personal comfort level with just about any component is exceeded at the 90C mark. I decided to take matters into my own hands and my aim was to mitigate the issue with as little effort and money as possible. With that being said, I modified my MSI Gaming Edge Z690 board today with a single Gelid Solutions GP-Ultimate 15W- Thermal Pad (1.5mm thickness).I play a lot of Overwatch, so I decided to use a before and after comparison of the game running for about an hour worth of matches.Baseline results- After 1 hour of playing Overwatch, my PCH temps would get close to 90C (194F).After applying Gelid thermal pad- 1 hour of Overwatch=77C (170F).I'm pleased with the results; although I wish the temps were even lower. I do not want to add a chipset fan or any other hardware methods, so this is as good as I'm likely to get without doing some undervolting. Some notes for my rig-I have excellent, finely tuned airflow.I also have a MSI Gaming X Trio RTX 3090 that obviously spreads heat directly to the PCH heatsink. I've also got the REBAR bios installed on my GPU, which has notably increased GPU temperatures since enabling REBAR. This added heat is transferred directly to the PCH heatsink, so I'm aware that some of my issues are self-inflicted.I could create a custom fan curve for my GPU to lower GPU temps, which I hypothesize would lower my PCH temps as well.Well, I hope this makes it to your reading list and helps you like it helped me!

Dropped my GTX 1080 idle temps by 19c and my load temps by 11c!
My GIGABYTE GTX 1080 WindForce 3X OC (GV-N1080WF3OC-8GD) is almost 6 years old at this point, and even though my GPU core temps never rose above 73c I was getting full system reboots after some time. I ended up repasting the card with Gelid GC-Extreme thermal paste on the core, but this didn't completely fix the issue and didn't drop by temps from a whole lot of Corsair TM50 Paste from around two years ago. A quick investigation of the card while playing God Of War revealed that my VRMs on the GPU were getting VERY hot.I ended up taking the card apart, and found out that my GPU has 4 different thicknesses of pads, 0.5mm, 1.0mm, 1.5mm, and 3.0mm. I ended up getting a pack of each, and replaced all pads across the die side and backplate. Only difference from before and after besides the pads and paste was that I covered individual memory chips rather than a strip of three or two to save the material as these pads are a bit expensive. These absolutely made a night and day difference. My Idle temps dropped from 50c to 31c on the GPU core, and fully loaded it's hitting a max of 62c. My card isn't overclocked, by man.Pros:Idle temps dropped from 50c to 31c.Load temps dropped from 73c to 62c.If you use a sharp exacto-knife and a cutting board, the material, even in the 0.5mm size is easy to cut and handle as long as you are careful. The top layer of plastic may come off when cutting, but this didn't effect the thermal pad at all.Pros: The price. You pay a premium for these pads, especially if you need 4 packs like I did, but it was totally worth it. Especially since right now my 1080 is almost worth as much used as it was brand new thanks to current chip and GPU shortages. Because these have performed so well, I haven't deducted any stars because of the price.

These work where stock pads fail
You will be astounded, about how amazingly awful the stock thermal pads on your GPUs truly are, both big boy brands alike. Once you replace them with these Gelid pads, your GPU will actually be able to cool itself like it’s meant to, instead of just going full fan under a normal/average workload. If your stock pads are great, don’t touch them, but if you’re having heat issues (especially during summer) good thermal pads are the best way to help your card beat the heat, and are typically simple to cut and install. They’re just little pads, nothing to be afraid of. It can be daunting opening a GPU and you do need to be careful, but just relax, watch tutorials on YT and treat your card to a quality cooling solution.

much more dense than I expected
So far there is little difference between this thermal pad and the cheap ones. It is much more dense than some of the thermal pads out there. There is a 2 or 3-degree difference between the cheap thermal pads and this thermal pad. Idle temperatures on a WD Black 850X are 120 degrees F without a thermal pad and 117 degrees F with the thermal pad. I don't think that it is worth the premium price tag

Lowered VRAM temps by 20c
Excellent product. 3080 Ti Founders Edition running at 74c core/90c VRAM sustained at 300w, 70% fan.

Thermal mod for my 3090 fe
Bought two of them for my 3090 fe thermal mod. Only apply this product on the backplate/vram area. It actually helped great! I can mine with 120-122 MH with 100-102 mem temp (I put the card in a matx case so temp is definitely not the best) but finally, I get rid of the thermal throttle.

For Best Result, 1.5mm on the RTX 3080 3080 ti and 3090 FE
I got the 2.0mm but it was to thick, then got the 1.0mm and the DYE got hot to the 90c. Get the 1.5mm for the Founders Edition cards.
