I purchased this meter assuming that it would help detect natural and man-made earth energy fields and disturbances in order to correlate geo-magnetic anomalies found though dowsing various rural properties and landscapes. It couldn't detect anything of that nature. It does work nicely to identify the polarity of magnets and their strength although I didn't have a calibrated source to determine whether the readings were accurate. It also showed that two of my copper earth ground rods were reading about 2mT with the electricity shut off. The instruction manual is horrible as is the description that the seller posted on Amazon. It uses 4 AA batteries, not a 9v battery as described and there are many other discrepancies in the manual. Although, the device can read as low as 0.1mT, it's not sensitive enough for weaker static magnetic fields. The instrument case is OK but smells heavily of toxic chemicals when you open it.
