A great look into how the Shifflet brothers go about making great pieces of art.Helpful to amateurs and up. Great pictures and the text is full of tips and tricks to increase your sculpting toolset.

This reads like an origin story of the Shiflett Brothers and also gives you a behind the scenes view into how they create their wonderful sculptures.First off I am not a sculptor but the fun part is that you don’t need to be to enjoy this book. The way it’s written I never felt like anything was too technical but I’m sure it also holds a wealth of knowledge for aspiring sculptors.The presentation of the book itself is a work of art. The texture on some of the pages you can tell that this was a labor of love. The photos are rich in color and in high detail. I can’t recommend this book enough!

Lots of visual information in this book: lots of "eye candy," to make you want to go and sculpt something!

While the brothers specialize in sculpting fan subjects, they feature a couple of sculptors who are artists of an original nature—creating beautiful original pieces that def gravity. I purchased the book to see more of their work with details of how their magic is achieved.

El libro llego dentro del tiempo estimado, es una excelente edición, justo lo que esperaba

It's a very good book. The tutorials are similar in presentation to Japanese bookazines like Sculptors series. Basically you won't see construction techniques on how to make head anatomy or how to build anatomy of the body etc, instead there are principles of how they approach their sculptures. I liked the inclusion of other sculptors in there - real gems. Same idea there - you get to look at the principles of their workflow and approach to sculpting. I personally didn't find too much new information in this book, but I've been sculpting for over 10 years and took classes from both shifflets and Simon Lee so I already was familiar with their processes. Nevertheless i kept the book because I did find some bits and pieces of good information, besides the images are great (wouldn't hurt to add a larger gallery from featured sculptors and shifflets themselves). I took one star off because i think the book is overpriced. It shouldn't be more than $50. For 70 bucks price tag I expected it to be a hard cover.

È davvero un bel libro. Parte dal concept della figura, spiega i materiali da utilizzare e come sfruttarli, mostra la realizzazione di una scultura a partire dalla struttura base fino al suo completamento. È in inglese ma è di facile comprensione, attraverso le immagini capisci l'essenziale. Uno sforzo nella traduzione vale la pena.
