Product broke after first use. Received yesterday and it worked fine the first time I tried lighting a candle. The second candle did not light as the spark stopped appearing even though it made a sound. Tried charging it for a few hours. Still no spark. Unfortunately you can not return on Amazon. So please save your money.UPDATE: After contacting the manufacturer directly, they sent me a new product immediately free of charge. They apologized and wanted to ensure I had a positive experience with the lighter. Great customer service there. The new unit works great and I've already tested it a few times. Didn't encounter any issues.

This product was 5 stars during the first three months of use. It lit my candles and I felt good that I was using a reusable item. The hook that came with it was also a nice touch. By month four (with only using it a few times a week), it stopped working. It takes a charge but doesnt "light". I can hear the buzzing, like it's trying to work, but the end looks melted or something. I'm really sad that it's broken :( I haven't used a candle in weeks.

Bought this in 2016 and it JUST died. Surprised it lasted this long, and it worked perfectly every single time. A full charge lasted about 2 weeks. Gonna buy 2 more right now!

Well... I purchased two of these. One works like a charm and the other does not work at all. I charged them both for five hours, then tried charging the one that wouldn’t light for a full day - still nothing. I will be returning the defective one and am on the fence about reordering another or trying a different seller. The one that works is great, so 50% of my order was a success.UPDATE - I was contacted by customer service who kindly offered to send me a replacement for the defective lighter and Amazon refunded me even though they could not accept its return. Excellent customer service by both parties!

I received a defective unit. I charged it, but it didn't work. I opened it up to take a peek inside, and found exposed copper wires were flimsy and shorting on themselves, and one of them had become detached from the circuit board it was supposed to connect to. When I pushed the wire down to the circuit board, it began to work intermittently, but I certainly don't trust it.Also, the lithium polymer battery pack was only held down with a small strip of tape, which left a lot of "wiggle" room. In fact, when I first picked up the lighter, I felt and heard something shaking loose inside of it. Well, it turns out it was the battery. Over time, I can imagine this will wear on the wires that go into the battery.The good: the main body is metal, most likely aluminum. The slide mechanism that both protects the arc leads and doubles as a safety that covers the ignition button is a smart bit of engineering. The packaging is great too -- makes a great gift box. But even then, a lot of the unit feels like cheap plastic.Overall, not only was it defective, but I'm not overly impressed with the guts of the unit. I'll consider getting a replacement as clearly it's popular enough to get 5 stars, so something must be good about it. But right now the jury's out due to the overall construction choices.

Lighter is/was very good for the reason I purchased it for my wife. She suffers from RA and cannot use the ordinary butane lighters. This was great for her since it only required moving the safety slider and pushing the button. However after only a few uses the points between which the spark travels (looks like they are made of plastic) melted. I warned her that some reviews mentioned this problem so she was careful to not hold the spark more than 3-5 seconds and not to hold the tips in the flame. We also noticed it did not keep a charge for more than one evenings candle lighting and had to be recharged constantly.Very disappointing...particularly for the price.3 Stars for good idea 1 Star for materials

Works as advertised. Delivery was prompt. Walked around and tried several candles, easily lit them. I was surprised by how light the product was. It is much easier to use then my old butane candle lighter. I had no problem reaching some of my deeper candles. Put the lighter on charge and it charged just fine. I have two arc type lighters for smoking and am very satisfied with the technology. I'm think butane is a thing of the past given the way these lighters work. The only thing I don't know is how long they will last.

This lighter is really neat! Works great on candles, especially ones with hard-to-reach wicks. I'm adding this to my survival kit for camp fire making. I still have not charged it yet and have used it well over one hundred times. Great in high winds. Just remember, anything you are trying to light needs to be in contact with the arc, which means it needs to fit in between the contacts.
