iPhone: The Missing Manual: Covers the iPhone 3G Paperback – Bargain Price, August 20, 2008

I did not buy the original iPhone and I don't have an iPod Touch, so I needed a little coaching when I decided to buy the iPhone 3G. As everyone knows, the small "Finger Tips" manual included with the iPhone covers only the most basic stuff. You need this book for everything else. It is very clearly written and includes great color pictures that pinpoint exactly what you need to tap to make whatever it is you want to happen happen.By the way, I have experienced none of the problems that seem to have plagued some buyers of the iPhone 3G. The 3G service in my area has been great; after several weeks, I have yet to have a dropped call. I've had no trouble synching my phone with iTunes, and there were no production flaws on my phone. So, I would recomend this two step program:1. Buy the iPhone2. Buy this book to get the most out of step 1.

I love the "Missing Manual" series and don't think too hard when it comes to picking a technical book if one of David Pogue's books is among the batch ... they are good, funny and most of all extremely informative,This book does not disappoint.I was surprised when I opened the box to discover that this iPhone book was not the usual size of the many of his others that grace my shelves. I was surprised to open the book and find beautiful color screenshots of the iPhone along with great tips and shortcuts. It REALLY does help to use the MM series for whatever your task is (in this case: the iPhone 3G). You'll find yourself returning at times to figure stuff out along the way.Another great and beautifully done reference.Thanks Mr. Pogue!

I recently exchanged my phone on an ATT plan and got an Apple 3G IPhone. My first smart phone ---finally graduating from the 'dinosaur era' of cell phones I'd lived with previously.I worked with the phone and was told that all I had to do was press the buttons till I found my way around. I spent the first two days in a nightmare existence of confusion and frustration -- not being able to get to screens I wanted. I didn't KNOW HOW to use it at all.I then ordered the IPhone --The Missing Manual---It really should have been a manual included WITH THE PHONE but wasn't. After reading sections of this manual, I was navigating my 3G with ease and was very happy. I highly recommend this manual for ANY Apple IPhone owner. Its A+++++++++++++ iPhone: The Missing Manual

I just got the new iPhone 3g, I had no problem figure out most of the features on the phone and the basic stuff. But I knew from what everyone said there was a lot to learn still. This book helped me so much. I learned things that I would never have figured out on my own.And WOW was it easy to read and apply what I learned. The authors sense of humor comes out and makes it not only easy to read and learn from but fun!If you have a new iPhone or even if you have had yours for awhile this is the book to have...even if you think you have it all figured out I bet you will find something in it that you didn't know.

You'll miss most of the fun with the IPhone without this manual. David Pogue provides a thorough review of all the features, tips, and tricks with the IPhone. This manual is a must for any IPhone owner. A feature that I would have never found without Pogue's instruction is the double click on the home button to instantly go to "favorites" on the phone list.Since this manual is packed with information I recommend reading a chapter at a time. This gives me time to practice and play with the phone so that I actually integrate what I am reading into skills. I have found by doing this I am actually using much more of the IPhone and enjoying its magic to much larger degree.

When I ordered this book, I thought I had a pretty good grip on the iPhone. In reality, I knew the basics and that was it. This book fills in a lot of blank spots, so to speak. The author obviously has the technical knowledge to write this book which he shares in a light, yet technically accurate, style of writing. The book also has a web site associated with it so you may keep up with changes as they develop. If you own an iPhone, order this book. It really IS the missing manual!

Time passes, and the iPhone 3G is now considered obsolete.But, just such a device can be a useful tool for someone who hasn't drunk the "Kool-Aid" of subsequent iPhones, or even of its competitors.The iPhone, even a lowly 3G 16GB, can be a remarkable tool, in the right hands, and with the right information."The Missing Manual" series is most helpful in getting the most out of one's iPhone, although with the most current incarnation of iOS, 4.2.1, the screens occasionally differ from those shown as examples in The Missing Manual as this manual was written from the perspective of iOS 2.0 and not iOS 4.2.1, but the differences are easy to figure out.

I found the book easy to read and contained all the information I needed plus more much much more. iPhone: The Missing Manual: Covers the iPhone 3G I would also like to add that my purchase of a Kindle for my wife was one of the best presenta I could have given her. There were a good number of things that I just didn't know about the iPhone 3G (or 3GS if I had one) that are covered in this book. I found it easy to read, amusing, and very useful in getting to grips with my new (2nd-hand) 3G. Its not for the real experts but for a newbie to iPhones it was what I needed.

Missing Manuals as always seem to get the level of tuition right especially for crumblies who have out of date gear
