Nice quality, but needs sewing experience
This is a nice kit. It has everything you need.... but it is much, much more intricate than I was expecting. I thought the pieces would be either precut or at least predrawn. Nope. There are patterns that you use to draw and then cut. It also requires different types of sewing stitches. All the directions and everything are in the book, but I was expecting something more basic. It's definitely not something my 8 year old can do on their own.... and I sure don't have the patience. This is a project to do with grandma.

Product is good but the delivery too way longer then estimated....
I ordered this Thursday and paid the extra shipping and it was suppose to be here Saturday morning for mothers day Sunday... And it didn't come until Monday afternoon! Product is cool and we will have fun making it, but I definitely wouldn't pay for the extra shipping!

Absolutely perfect!
This was so fun! They were easy to assemble with basic sewing skills going into it. It’s written well and has everything you need to make the magic come alive!

Fun Kit! (with editing mistakes and minor kit issues)
tl;dr - Recommended with reservations. This is a fun and well-priced kit. It will teach you basic hand-sewing and embroidery. The pattern-maker did a great job. One-star off for editing mistakes. One-star off for annoying kit decisions. **** Why I Bought This Kit: I love sewing with felt. In the last 2-3 years I have made many dolls and ornaments. However, my embroidery skills are absolute beginner level. I purchased this kit to learn how to use embroidery to make my felt crafts more detailed. *** PROS * The patterns are darling! * The embroidery stitch instructions are excellent. I'm sure I will return to them again and again. * The cutting guides are very helpful. * The step-by-step assembly instructions are detailed and clear. * The kit comes with nearly everything you will need to make 4 bookmarks and 6 dolls. (See my tips below.) * The main project templates are printed on thick cardstock and are easy to punch out. * The instruction booklet is sturdy and a convenient size to keep handy while sewing. CONS Editing Mistakes: * Page 8 - the 8 black bookmark stripes are for Hufflepuff, not Slytherin * Page 13 - scissors are not included and it doesn't note this (while it does for everything else). Also, I think the recommended tools section is off - you absolutely do NOT need a rotary cutter for this kit! (See my tips below for what you do need.) *The Equipment section should have come before Getting Started. * Page 63 - in the bonus project section (The Monster Book of Monsters) references that you should see page 18 for info about designing and creating your own template pieces to fit other books. This information is not on page 18. Page 60 references that the Monster Book template can be resized for many books, but in no way covers "designing and creating" - I didn't find anything in the book that I think could be accurately described as explaining designing and creating. Annoying Kit Decisions: * As others have noted, the peach felt included for the doll bodies should have been more generous. I have a lot of sewing experience and followed the cutting guide, but still ended up with one doll whose limbs were a little amputated. Providing a couple of extra centimeters on either side would have made all the difference. * The template pieces are labeled with things like "A1" and "B12". It would have been so much easier if they just would have printed English descriptions on the pieces ("Snape hair back", "student robe", "bookmark stripe", etc.). * The bonus template should have been printed alone on the final page to make it easier to photocopy and scale-up the design. *** TIPS: Supplies: The kit comes with felt, thread, needle, stuffing, and template pieces. If you are a sewing beginner, I recommend you gather the following tools before starting: 1. Two washable colored pencils, one dark, one white. Use these to trace your patterns rather than springing for fabric marking pens. 2. An envelope to hold your pattern pieces after they've been traced. 3. Floss bobbins - inexpensive to purchase OR find a free "Printable Floss Bobbin" pattern online and print on cardstock. 4. Tracing paper or thin printer paper to help you transfer the face patterns from the book and to your dolls. (See third photo.) 5. A pin-cushion or a folder scrap of felt from the kit to hold your needle when you're not using it. 6. Sharp, fine-point scissors. I strongly recommend purchasing Fiskar's No. 5 Micro-Tip Scissors. 7. A wooden take-out chopstick to help you push the stuffing into the tiny limbs. 8. I retained the box bottom that came with the kit and used that to hold all of my supplies while working. You absolutely do NOT need a rotary cutter for this project. I also don't think you need pins. If you do want pins, get the kind that are tiny clips. The pattern templates and fabric are too thick to work with old-fashioned straight pins. However, these template pieces are tiny and felt sticks to felt, so I don't feel pins are necessary. Before Sewing: 1. Punch out all of the template pieces. 2. Following the book's "Getting Started" guide, flip each piece over and write what it is in English on the back side (see second photo). 3. Still following the "Getting Started" guide, trace and cut out all pieces. 4. Divide the pieces so that you have one stack for each of the 10 projects. 5. To prevent your floss from tangling, wind each color on a bobbin. Now you are ready to follow the instructions per pattern! If you are an absolute beginner, make at least one bookmark first, then make the dolls in order. (They are ordered from easiest to hardest in the book.) *** At the time of writing this review, I still have three dolls to make. I plan to gift the bookmarks and use the dolls as Halloween decorations.

Cute felt characters
I enjoyed making the 6 characters - I really didn't bother with the other items (bookmarks weren't really what I wanted from this anyway). They turned out great and the teacher we made they for loved them. Instructions were easy to follow. I did some substitution so I could use google eyes and added clawhook hangers so they could be ornaments.

I do the projects while I watch TV. The only thing I wish is that the pictures were labeled with the pattern pieces. Each piece have a letter and number but they don't correspond with anything.

Nice little gift something different

In general, the product is good and comes with most of the materials needed to produce the dolls, which makes life easier. However, it's not for beginners. I have some suggestions for the creator: - Some felts came slightly narrower than the size of some molds. For cutting the character's body, for example, I needed to make their arms smaller. Consider providing felts that match the mold sizes more accurately. - In the pages that mention how all the molds can be placed on the felts in order to optimize their space, I felt that we need the information on which mold numbers are being referred to. The manual can be confusing sometimes, especially because of that. I needed to go to each character's page, discover what color was being mentioned, and then go back to the molds' page to decipher which was which. Including a reference to the mold numbers on all the pages that mention them would be helpful.
