Excellent battery charger for my purposes.
I have been using this product for nine months now, and nothing has gone wrong. It seems very well made and attractive looking. I bought the charger and 12 EBL AAA batteries. The batteries really are good quality. You can charge them, put them in the drawer, and use them 2 months later. They hold charge well. I bought them because I have a HP50G scientific calculator which burns up batteries very quickly, so it was costing me too much replacing AAA batteries. These EBL rechargeable batteries last for a long time in the calculator before they need to be recharged. However, the point is: the battery charger works well.

Good little charger for the money
I bought this charger to charge some Amazon Basics AAA batteries that I purchased for my Panasonic phones. I had some batteries left over and needed a way to charge them for my computer wireless keyboard, so this charger is it.It can charge either AA or AAA batteries, and you do NOT need to charge them in pairs. Singles will do if that's what you want. Each cell has a little LED to indicate the charging action. Red means that it is charging, green means that it is done. Who can't understand that?I see a lot of misconceptions about how this charger, and other for that matter, work. First, you have to understand that "fast charging" chargers come at a price: fast charging generates a lot of heat in the batteries, and heat is DEATH to NiMH batteries. Yes, they charge fast, but do not expect to get hundreds of recharges out of your batteries when you do. You will be lucky to get 100 charges out of them before they die from the heat. Just about every manufacturer tells you that for best battery life, charge them at the amp-hour rating of the battery (called "C" in the business) divided by 10, for 15 hours, then shut if off. Fast charging will put 0.5C or even 1C into the batteries in order to put "C" of current into the batteries very quickly. This is like hitting them with a sledge hammer. If you expect your batteries to last for the promised "hundreds of recharges," then charge them slowly. Don't club them to death!Let's walk through an example: if you have some 1000 mA-hr AAA batteries, then C/10 = 100 mA. The charger should hit them with 100 mA for 15 hours before shutting off. A 2000 mA-hr AA battery should receive 200 mA for 15 hours before shutting off. Judging by the low price, this charger is not a "smart charger" in that it can't tell what you plug into its terminals. It knows neither the size nor the amp-hr rating of the battery it is supposed to charge. How does it know what current to charge the batteries with?A: it doesn't. Reading the little label on back, it puts 180 mA into the battery. This number is in line with the C/10 rate of a standard AA NiMH battery, which is often rated at about 1800 mA-hr. If you charge a AAA battery with it, it's hitting it with about C/5. That won't kill the battery as it is still a pretty low charging current. Do NOT be fooled by the label on the back of the unit that says "Output DC 800 mA; AA/AAA 180 mA". As a retired electrical engineer, I can tell you this is gibberish. The guy who wrote it doesn't know an electron from an elephant. Many people think that the battery will see 800 mA. It will not. It's the "180 mA" each battery will receive. I suppose that "800 mA" is supposed to be the sum of the four individual charge rates, which would be close to 800 mA. Who knows? Trust me: this charger is "a slow charger," and it's a good thing for long battery life. For general purpose charging of AA and AAA NiMH (as well as NiCad) cells, this is a good little unit to own and pretty much guarantees that your batteries will live long, useful lives.
