PERFECT PERMACATH shower cover
Permacath shower cover. Comes in various sizes. I purchased 12x12 initially, which was too large and unwiedly to handle. After one use, I down-size to 10x10 which was perfect. Let's talk design as to why it is functional and protective.Essentially there is a non-stick center with medical grade gauge to cover the ports of a permacath (dialysis catheter). If you search for this, you already know you're supposed to protect the 2 ports, which the dialysis center will wrap with medical grade gauge and specifically tell you to keep it dry under optimal condition to avoid infection. WETNESS of any port will promote infection, which needless to say is potentially disastrous. Some dialysis center will go as far to tell you they recommend sponge bath ONLY. The outter edge of this unit extend the perimeter by at least 2", which consists of sticky tape (also known as TEGADERM - made by 3M). The non-skin contact (outter surface) is lined by slightly thicker plastic, which you'll need to peel off (thickness of packaging tape) to appose the sticky tegaderm to your skin. The skin-contact (under surface) is lined with medical grade parchment paper (at least twice the thickness of packaging tape) to expose the sticky surface for placement. So the procedure to apply the shield for safe-showering is as follow:Peel off the parchment paper to expose the under-side of the shield; this allow you to access the non-stick square center (medical grade gauge) and placement over the ports. For me using a 6x6" area center is preferable and more manageable, but does required me to fold the ports over the permacath to keep it center. You would do well with an extra pair of hands.Once you're happy with the positioning of the ports underneath the non-stick gauge center, press over the outter 2" sticky surface to your chest skin. It is okay not to have perfect alignment, stickiness to your skin as this is not the final positioning.Next you peel off the light-blue plastic upper covering of the shield (2 halves - to cover the entire shield), one at a time. This will expose the TEGADERM (thin plastic film outter edge of the shield). Take your time to peel the outter covering and make sure the sticky surface make good contact with your skin. This provides approximately 2" of nothing but glue-on protective film around the non-stick gauge center. Water would need to penerate this 2" barrier to get to the center of the shield where your ports are. The TEGADERM outter edge is VERY thin and sticky so do take your time to apply this very maleable film/shield to your chest skin and provide the maximum protection.Next peel off the 1" under-side parchment paper to completely expose the entire under-side of the shield. Apply same procedure for the other half of the shield. For women, a larger 12x12" might provide better coverage because of chest wall anatomy. The basic idea of this shower shield is a non-stick gauge center to cover your dialysis ports. The surrounding 2" of thin sticky film (TEGADERM) provides 2" worth of water-proof edge to prevent water from wetting your ports. Peeling off the parchment under-side paper expose the underside of the shield so you could guide placement of the shield over the ports. Peeling off the upper-side plastic cover expose the thin film (TEGADERM) so you could press and guide placement of the water-proof shielding surrounding the port to provide 2" of barrier against water penetration.Good luck. Finally

My order recieved just as I expected. I'm very happy with my order.
Perfect, it was a little smaller that I expected, but it will do the job for now. I'll just order a little larger on my next order.

Far more superior than the others
This product I found to be superior to the others when instructions are followed however you will need to cover your catheter or site with another gauze to keep the protector from adhering to it.

Material muy resistente al agua
It is easy to use, resistant material does not allow water to enter and the glue does not hurt

The adhesive wasn't strong enough.
The water proof clear part rolled up during shower, adhesive was not strong enough so bandage got wet. The bandage part was not long enough as pictured. I wasn't very happy, so until I find the one that is pictured with the man with a longer white protective part on it, I will continue to use these, hopefully it won't be long.

Wrong size
Much larger than expected. If I use it to keep the Gtuube in place, dry, while taking a shower, it rips off my dressing completely!
