Goodnight Unicorn: A Magical Parody

I bought this for my granddaughter. I enjoyed reading it to her so much, such a sweet and beautiful, well written book.

What can I say? I'm a librarian and first found this at the library. Checked it out and took it home to my 2 boys to read, and *I* was so enchanted with the illustrations and calm narrative that I had to buy a copy for myself. This is going on my personal book shelf even though I will still read it with my kids. I just don't want them to destroy it. Pearl-clutchers out there should be aware there's the word "pattootie" use to refer to hindquarters and a mom and dad unicorn who are enamored with one another. If those offend you this book is not for you.

Such a cute book! We are big fans of Goodnight Moon and even bigger fans of unicorns, this book is a delightful mix of the two. Beautiful illustrations and fun, simple text. And there’s even unicorn facts at the end! A must for any book-loving unicorn enthusiast.

I actually didn’t notice this was a parody when I bought it so it has zero real story line and meaning to it but it’s really very cute anyway. It’s a bunch of animals saying goodnight to each other and the pictures are very well done.

Searching for "unicorn books" for my 4 year old and came across this amalgamation of two of her favorite things. It is so so good. I was wary of such a pricey book for a little kid, but it was worth it. We really enjoy reading this book. So many unicorns in the illustrations to pick out and talk about, with so many fun features! Great little parody for my to enjoy, I'm sure she doesn't get it. The facts about unicorns after the story are really fun as well. Definitely blows the other unicorn books I ordered out of the water.

Inspired by Wandrwoman's review, I ordered a copy of this book. It's very colorful, and packed with unicorns of every type. The verse is sing-songy, and full of whimsical rhymes. (Although I'm not so sure about: "Goodnight cutie with tattooed patootie".) Probably best for the lower end of the 4-7 year age range suggested, and for a unicorn-loving child.

I virtually never write reviews, but had to for this one. My entire family adores this book! I’ll echo another reviewer here and say the story and illustrations are so well thought out that I’m tempted to buy a second copy so one can stay on my bookshelf and the kids can enjoy theirs. Love everything about it, it’s perfect for any age :)

Our family loooooove unicorns and good Night Moon. This book was the bees knees!! Every unicorn is adorable!!!! I would happily read this every night. The story is cute, very simular style to good night moon (hence it being a parody). Honestly I like it better. Two thumbs up from my 30 year old unicorn loving self and my 6 year old unicorn loving daughter.

Bought this as a birthday present for my 4 year old granddaughter, she loves it. I have ordered the second one of the set out in August!

This is a darling book that is beautifully illustrated. It's a perfect bedtime book to be read again and again. Children from about 3-8 will love it, first to be read to them and then to read on their own. Magic!

I ordered this for my cousins little girl. It arrived really quickly and the quality of the hardback is beautiful. Really pleased!

My daughter and I love this book. My daughter loves the unicorns, and it's a fun read, too.
