Runleader Digital Tach Hour Meter Engine Temperature Gauge RL-HM035A-TS002

Put this on a narural gas converted 305cc b&s that powers a 5500 watt generator to display the rpm and temperature so I can run the engine at its maximum efficiency without causing damage. Compared it to another tach and it is within spec by 1-2 rpm. I have yet to check the temperature for accuracy. Unit seems well built and the mounting kit had nice 3m hook loop, nuts that didnt fit the threaded mounting posts, and a mini screwdriver that didn't fit anything 🤔. All in all I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a way to monitor a small engine. Also for anyone who may do a natural gas or lp conversion for the conversion kit go with US carburetor in Summersville WV. They are great to deal with and will get you set up with everything you need to get started. Take it from me and dont buy the cheap junk I learned my lesson the hard way.

Working as intended. I question the accuracy of the hour gauge on the unit as it has surpassed the hr gauge on my machine. The temp gauge seems to work good. I haven’t tested it for accuracy but knowing ballpark temps is great.

Cons: First time I unplugged the leads after test fitting, all three wires came out of the coupler. If you're familiar with R.C. cars, it has a connector much like a servo would have, except the wire aren't crimped into the metal parts. The only thing holding them to in place is piece of heat shrink that's around the case of the 3 wires and the plastic part of the connector. So I just soldered it back together, and it works. If you have a soldering iron, not too big of a deal, just slightly annoying. If you don't, well I suggest never unplugging the leads. There's also no mention in the instructions of where you should put the ring terminal for the heat sensor. A quick Google search will tell you it actually goes under the spark plug. The instructions are a little difficult to read, and obviously translated by someone who's first language was not English. Again, not a big deal, but I've never heard of a spark plug cap refered to as a "pencil style" as it's put. So to clarify that for anyone, 4 stroke engines need the yellow wire wrapped around the boot of the spark plug wire, 2 strokes need the yellow wire wrapped around the actual spark plug wire, just above the boot. Pros: Its a cool little gadget with a lot of functions. Perfect for my Craftsman DLT 3000 riding mower cause I can finally set the idle correctly and monitor the rpms. If you've ever owned a single cylinder OHV Briggs Intek engine, then you know that it's already living on borrowed time and it can get hot pretty quick from slightly low oil, or grass in the cooling fins, or its head gasket (which is seemingly set to self destruct if you just look at it wrong) and they throw rods, drop valve seats, and the rings will be gapped so huge you'll wonder if they're even the correct ones for the engine cause the piston slap is ridiculous. Air cooled engines also need the correct idle speed for the fan to blow enough air to keep it from over heating, you also dont want it to rev too high cause it will detonate. (Dont even get me started on the cam decompression lever, also a source of self destruction) so to me, having a tachometer is essential to keep one alive, so is a temperature reading to help you establish if the air/fuel ratio is good. Once i find out what that temperature is actually supposed to be for this engine, ill be set. Just buy the dam thing. Its cheep and it works. If you're handy, you can figure it out.

Don't waste your money junk it never shuts off so eats batteries and tec is operatic not accurate at all I had it in use for 2 weeks and it quite working all together JUNK

I have a TW200 motorcycle and this is a must have addition. It displays both the RPM and the temp at the same time, and I find both numbers very helpful on the bike. I mounted it just above the "light cluster" with the included Velcro and it works great (and will let me change its battery without hassle). Installation was just a bit tricky, I had to gently bend the temp prob to get it to sit nicely in the sparkplug (and then some insulation melted away from the prob but it didn't impact performance). For the RPM, I had to use the setting for a 1 cylinder 2-stroke (even though it is a 4-stroke) for some reason, but it works great with this setting. I now know my bike's "happy" temperature is about 265 degrees, and have an alarm set for 350 degrees and 8500 RPM. On a recent ride in Death Valley it helped me keep an eye on my temperature (bike reached 330!) If you have a TW200, do yourself a huge favor and get this. It is really, really helpful. Peace. Out.

I used this unit on my lawn tractor so I could monitor engine temperature and keep track of total running hours. LIKE: Units display had all the items i was interested in monitoring and more. It was quite easy to mount and make the required connections. Dislike: Display was a little smaller than I would like it to be, but did work fine. The battery life was much shorter than I would expect. I installed the unit the end of March and the battery indicated low life within three weeks, however, it did continue to work until Early July. The unit does not 'sleep' when not in use, so the battery only lasted about 3 months. I did not utilize the backlight feature. I would expect the battery to last the mowing season or about 6-7 months as a minimum. This is a great unit for any small engine application without a 12 volt battery source to power the unit. I would not recommend for a mower that does have a battery unless you like changing the CR2032 batteries 2-3 times per season.

Ordered one, didn't turn on. Put in new battery, still dead. Did return and replacement showed up next day. Same thing, dead. No way both had issues. I started inspecting the battery connections. The side prong was flattened down. I took a sharp object and bent side prong up. This made the side prong touch the side of the battery and the center prong touches the middle, it then worked. If you get one that doesn't work, check the battery prong connections. Programming was actually easy also.

It works perfect. Easy to read. Easy to install. Somewhat easy to program. Battery life is a few weeks if you don't disable it after use. Just press the two buttons at the same time and it will shut down. Touch one again and it will turn back on instantly. A 6pk of batteries is cheap and will last years. I use it to keep and eye on engine temp too... but it is mainly used from RPMs on my little 2004 Mercury 5HP 2-stroke outboard engine. I was able to adjust proper idle rpms for a good running engine @ idle/under load. I was also able to realize that my max RPMs were too high with the stock prop... so, I got a new prop, and can now go faster. One shot needed/no guessing required. This made this a very valuable modification. Not having to pull out my phone to check the time when on the water, may save me a phone too.

This is the second Runleader I have purchased and I am completely satisfied with both. They are easy to install (although the instructions could be a little better / clearer), are very good value for money (half the price of the unit sold by the mower manufacturer) with multiple functions as opposed to a plain hour meter. Add to that, it was delivered by Intelcom just three days after placing the order although there was a small fee. Very impressed and I will buy again for my quad.

I used the unit in the car to monitor the coolant temperature. I found that the rpm reading is not very accurate, and I will try to wrap more than five turns later. The two button controls are not too easy to use. I forgot if there was manual with the unit. I did the settings by guessing.

It does not shut off . Kills the battery in 2 days . It then got wet while working on our excavator and it completely died .
