Will this work for RJ45 cable?

No or the crappiest of crappy RJ45 out there. However, it could be modified with a 10-way switch to test each line individually. I would just pickup a cheap RJ45 CAT5/6 tester where you put a dongle on one end of the cable and put the tester on the other and it simulates data traveling down the line and either thumbs up or thumbs down each individual strand in the braid.

I'm looking a way to find some speaker cables I had on the wall but they were cut so I can´t find them anymore. Will this work?

You need to get to an end to attach the tracker and then you might get it to work for just the end you can connect to. However I tried tracking some cable lines in wall and found it hit and miss through the drywall. So I would be sceptical it will work. It worked great end to end to find which wire is which in a batch.

what is the maximum distance the tone can traced?

Used only for residential. Mostly point to point. Longest run I've done round 50'. Never had run that did not read out. Not truly and answer, but maybe some insight.
