Golden Books The New Baby (Little Critter)

Another really cute book from Mercer Mayer. It tells the story of Little Critter and the arrival of a baby sister. I got it for my son (2yrs old) to explain the arrival of his sister! He really enjoys this book and the pictures are lovely.

This book was really helpful for my 2.5 old daughter when I was pregnant with her brother. We read it nearly every evening.

This book was a huge help in preparing our family's little one for her new sibling. It's all about the new baby so can be for either an incoming Brother or Sister. It is humorous with a little mouse buddy that accompanies all the action and we had fun laughing and talking about each page.When the baby was born, our little one was quoting things from the book about burping and being quiet...and we could tell that when she had repeatedly asked for the books to be read, she had been taking it all in. It has a nice vibe throughout where is shows how the sibling has an important role, but also that the baby has needs the sibling needs to be aware of.

I bought this book for my grand-daughter whose new baby sibling is a brother. Since the book is about a new baby sister, I didn't bother giving her the book because she's only 3 -- not old enough to decipher how this story relates to her. It would be too confusing and the point of the book was to build her confidence in a challenging new situation. Cute idea but I really wish the description would have been upfront with that information.
