You will never want to use a bread knife again. This thing cuts a fresh sourdough loaf like butter. To crack the handle and effortlessly slide your bread through at a perfect, uniform slice size is kitchen bliss. It helps to use the suction cups on the bottom to keep it steady. The blade is razor sharp and will cut you if you touch it. I elected to go with this one over cons knockoffs because of good German steel that I can trust. Highly recommend.

The Zassenhause Manual Bread Slicer, slices bread like butter! So much easier and safer than a knife. Slices come out neat and smooth. totally worth the splurge. This will cut perfect slices of any bread in any width. Much better than I could ever do by hand. I get more slices out of a sourdough.It is a very solid piece of hardware and the blade and guide work amazingly well. You can basically dial in the thickness of the bread slice and it cuts it perfectly every time and love the suction cup base, it doesn’t move or slide around when trying to slice bread.

Best I could find. I really am glad I have it. This cuts even slices and you can vary the thickness easily without changing the position of the bread. Even though I don't bake bread too often it was just worth the money to me to get some good slices especially when family joined me for a meal.I tried two other less expensive items and could not get even slices consistently. The guides bent depending on pressure.Some problems are: can't slice a tall loaf the handle is too low, no way of pushing bread to protect fingers when keeping the bread moving in line on top and bottom, flare at back pushes bread away which causes tearing, It isn't for cutting meat since the base is wood and blade is not easily removed.

Wish I'd sprung for one of these long ago! I bake a lot of sourdough bread, and what a game changer this is when it comes to slicing it. The blade easily cuts through that crunchy crust and soft interior like it's nothing! Beautiful, uniform slices! Even though the measurements are clearly stated in the product description, just from just looking at the pics I thought it would be larger than it is - and was greatly relieved when it arrived, as it is a size that is easily stowed away. Some reviewers say the suction cups slip around on the counter, but that may depend on your countertop material as I couldn't get this to slide at all on quartz. It also is not as heavy as it looks, again a relief! All in all, a very well thought out, well made product that is a pleasure to use. Highly recommend it for serious home bread bakers.

I have been using this slicer for several months now and I love it. I make bread 2-3 times/wk and I have beautiful slices, perfect for toasting or sandwiches. Yes, I do have the problem with the suction cups not always sticking, but I have found that they work if I put the slicer on my glass top stove (make sure the top is clean). Also, I have the best success with slicing bread if the loaf has completely cooled. It is easy to clean—just tap the crumbs off and then wipe it clean with a damp towel. Do not immerse in water and don’t take it apart. This was a splurge but it has been worth every penny.

My fiancée ALWAY makes bread and she loves it. The suction cups could be much better, it still moves, but this thing is heavy duty and it works well. Everyone in the house likes it and it cuts bread with ease. 5 stars.
