Great Value! I purchased this grill w/o a cover ...
Great Value! I purchased the 18-inch grill w/o a cover for $50.08 (after tax). The grill was easy to assemble and is less expensive than any comparable barrel type charcoal grills. I recommend you get a universal cover since the cover sold in the bundle is as expensive as the grill itself, which is silly. I ended up buying a char-broil 2-3 burner cover for like 16 bucks. It was too big for the grill, but it worked just fine. Plus, I could always modify it with a sewing machine. Although the grill is cheaply constructed, with proper maintenance this grill will last a while. Maintenance includes seasoning the cast iron grates, and applying a thin film of vegetable oil or shortening to the interior of the grill before first use, and re-applying the oil periodically over the year. This will keep the grill from rusting on the inside. This grill does a surprisingly good job grilling meats and vegetables. I found the cast iron grates along with the design of the grill resulted in even heat across the cooking surface. The cooking surface looks small but will fit around 8 medium sized burger patties, or 4 - 12 oz steaks. Additionally, the attached prep shelf is spacious, and the 3 hooks on the side of the shelf provide handy hangers for grilling tools.Overall, you can't beat the value provided here. The price point is low, it has great "large grill" features, and it's compact in size. I would say this grill is like any IKEA furniture. It's cheaply constructed, it only goes together once, but if you take care of it, it will fulfill your needs and last longer than anything this cheap has a right to.

Barrel grate griller
Upon opening packaging some if the cardboard was completely soaked in manufacturing residues and there was a thick adhesive on the inside of the grill itself and on the bottom grates that wouldn't come off even with the strongest adhesive remover I had. Guess ill just have to burn it off but makes me feel as though I can't cook meats in it fresh out of the box which puts me off to charbroil as a whole. Not looking at the safety of the consumers or the quality of the customers first few cooks or looking over their product before they release off the line? Coating is very easy to scratch not thick at all showing the steel so it's gonna rust if you scratch it to pieces... Expected this though. hey it was a super good deal and gets me a fatish charcoal barrel to cook on 18" and I'm sure it will last me a good while. Cast iron grates are decent seen easy to break due to design but only if you drop or whack em. There is a air leak at the bottom where the ash bin comes out but this could easily be remedied by bolting or welding on some metal flaps. All depends if you're a handyman or not. Really you could do just fine without. The top gets hot so get yourself a lid lifter but the lid stays open and you can jerry rig a latch if you want. Comes with cast iron? Grates lifter and the extra shelf is same metal and has books which is nice. You could spend another 50 bucks and get a little better from them but the 50$ is pretty much for some bells and whistles or extra space. Can't best price when on sale. Not the best not the worst. Fair I guess I'm happy

This little unit makes yummy burgers
I bought the small 18 inch grill & it had plenty of space for 4 burgers or steaks. Fairly easy to assemble if you take your time and study the pictures carefully. All the hardware fits as it should and the unit ended up tight and sturdy. Only complaint would be the wheels have too much side to side movement but adding a couple washers would fix that. Decent basic starter grill for an affordable price. No bells or whistles like high end grills so don't expect adjustable racks or temperature gauge. Unit gets very hot so use grilling mitts to open the lid or adjust the vents. Follow the seasoning instructions before your first cook out for best results. Also wash the cast iron grates and season with oil before first use to prevent sticking. They suggest always removing the coal ash after every use but the slide out Ash Pan makes that easy to do. I keep an ash can just for that purpose and for safety sake wait until the ash is cool.

Great little pit!
This is a great little grill, especially for an apartment! It’s big enough that you can put 4 steaks and 4 potatoes on, or 4 burgers and some hotdogs on at a time too. Bought this for a Christmas gift for the GF, she loves it and we have used it twice. Recommendation; Use the directions for assembly, and coat the whole thing in olive oil before it’s first use to help keep the paint from flaking off. I did and it worked amazingly. Very portable, not too heavy and will fit through doors with ease.
