Actually made of metal, with a slight rusty patina (doesn't stain furniture or anything). I keep it on one of my living room shelves, along with other lovely marina-themed decorations such as a sextant or a small telescope. Attracts heaps of compliments and looks very original.

First came across this on Etsy, but glad I found it for much cheaper on Amazon. It looks cool, has a rustic quality, and it's heavy! If using this as a book-end, I would just be careful about what you lean it up against (i.e., don't lean it heavily against a 100 y/o soft leather-bound book).
