Plug the hole before installing!
Works fine since we found a hole on one side. We filled the hole (small one-looks like it’s put there on purpose). Before we filled the hole in, the bottle part filled with water and sunk, leaving the water in all the time. If we’d installed it with the hole facing up to start with, it may have worked fine. But couldn’t screw it in with hole face up. Love my fountain with it.

Cheap...and the first one arrived with the float broken though the package
Its a nice compact size for my sump tank with Protein Skimmer in it. And being all plastic except for the stainless screw to adjust the float level.. However it arrived with the float broken off... I was surprised even though I had read the same thing had happened off someone else reviewing it. Amazon was quick to replace it...So it does work..Just hoping it doesn't break and flood my house with water since it maintains my Sump Tank water level...

Good for filling hot tub
Got this along with the https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B000FJZYR0 adapter for filling the hot tub. I weight the (somewhat stiff) garden hose in place with the tub cover, and this float valve shuts the water off at whatever depth I set. I wouldn't use a super flexible hose for this duty--it might rise with the water level. The fill rate is less than the hose would do alone, but I don't have to babysit it to keep from overflowing. Set it and forget it, as the saying goes. Go to the store, get your haircut, mow the lawn...

Great price. Easy install!
Works great, especially for the price. Only gave it a 4 star because we had to modify the arm to make it work with out pump. (We added an extension to reach the water level). It works great. Went on vacation and had no problems with the water level for the pump when debris clogged the entry.

For pool
I used this for my pool and it works great to keep the water level plus it’s adjustable if I want a high or lower level.

Clogs easy, float broke within a week
Had this on a bucket to water chickens. Sort of worked for a while but then stopped filling. Turns out it just has a tiny hole for water to go through and it clogged very easily. Unclogged and day later wasn't filling. The float had snapped off the rod. Very cheap, going with a different one.
