Cheap and works great
7.62x39mm is an usual caliber in ARs and traditional muzzle bore sights don't work well with aftermarket comensators. This bore sight was cheap and very simple to use. Just install batteries and insert into chamber. Not sure of the max range, but I was easily able to see it on a 25 yard target in broad daylight. TIP 7.62x39mm has a unique size head and will not work with 5.56, 300 Blackout, etc.

Nice sight but falls short of a rubber band.
It's a 4 star for me. I'm using this with several AK that a friend has. Let me tell you the good first: 1) nice and bright. I am sighting this in at about 40 meters, and it's easy to see daytime or at night. 2) Before beginning, I verified the factory alignment accuracy of the bore site with a piece of glass laid level on a range ; if you let the screw on cap hang off the edge of the glass and roll the bore site the projected laser dot should not go up and down. While not scientific, the longer the distance the easier you will see the inaccuracy. Similar results to the glass can be achieved by repeatedly rotating the bore site in the barrel while the firearm is mounted in a vice - then check if the projected dot is staying in in the same location. At my longest distance test, about 150 feet or so, there was no significant shift; the shift was maybe, and that's a big maybe, half an inch or so at most, will within the specs for a 1moa red dot and more than adequate to get you very close on the paper. It has the potential to be off high accuracy, but unfortunately a 10 cent flaw is going to make that difficult for some customers. 3) it's easy to install into the bore of an AK, but that's also the problem. See below. -1 star. 4) overall good value for the money, if you understand the limitations and have reasonable expectations. The bad: 1) The brightness doesn't last long. You might be lucky if you get 5 minutes continue operation before you start noticing the brightness going down. There is zero voltage regulation. It appears the laser current is limited by the batteries internal voltage. I get it, it's cheap and inexpensive. Just know what to expect because you are probably going to need the extra batteries if comes with. But didn't stick up on hundreds of them or anything because this is the type of tool you only use when you change the site, before you go to the range. 2) the accuracy. Again, assignment of the lasee, as I mentioned above, was spot on. HOWEVER, the cartridge does not properly fit a 7.62 bore despite being marked as such. So compensate, there should have been a simple o ring. What I did was applied an in outing to the front area, interest it into the bore, then VERY carefully closed the bolt to hold the assembly in place. This little o-ring is really required on something that fits into the bore so poorly. The bores under test have been miked and are well within spec. Needless to say, no matter how accurate the laser alignment is you can't do a proper job if it doesn't fit the view properly. Use tips: The rifles I were sighting in all had the iron sites dialed in at 100 yards. The goal was to install supplemental red dot sights. It was not possible to see the sun point of the iron sights with the red dot installed. Knowing the iron sights were ok, i installed the bore sight to provide a secondary check if accuracy. At 100 yards it was near perfect. I then installed the red dot, and if course lined up the red dot to be directly over the last point. Now that you should never attempt to sight at choose difference. If you align at the short distance of say 10m, then the sight will be impossibly off at 100 yards. Hope this helps. Overall, for the price, you can't beat it!

Doesn’t work
It felt cheap the moment I took it out the package. It’s pretty simple to use, place it in the chamber of the rifle you are using, and look at the laser. The laser simply did not create a dot but a red circle that was very inaccurate. After trying to fix the position of the laser it broke in my gun. The lesson I learned is that old school zeroing by shooting your rifle at a range the best way to zero. If the method ain’t broke don’t fix it.

It fit my rifle and res dot was crisp and good, bisible
Very easily sighted AK47. I had purchased a kit from laser bore costing $100+ but useless. This $9 came with 6 batteries and worked. Simply worked.
