Cactus Juice 20 SPF Sunscreen, 8oz

Cactus Juice is a good bug repellent. It does pretty well in repelling both mosquitoes and biting flies. Unlike DEET, which creates a cloud of chemical that surrounds you, Cactus Juice seems to work by contact. Thus, unlike DEET, if you have a region of skin without treatment, the biters may find it and chomp down. So you have to be thorough in application. Of course, it isn't a neurotoxin or whatever, as DEET apparently is. So you probably aren't hurting yourself by using it frequently. I have skin allergies to some additives and fragrances found in lots of consumer products, and hate most of the cheap fragrances they put in stuff, so I was really happy that CJ smells good to me and doesn't cause skin issues.Nota bene - Cactus Juice makes a number of different skin products that can be hard to distinguish online, so make sure you're getting "Sun & Skin Outdoor Protectant" rather than one of their other lotions or whatever. Also beware the monster shipping charge that some online retailers have. Used this in Roatan Honduras to fight off the sand flies (if you've ever been there, you know how bad they can be). I am the guy that gets bit, take me with you, I'm the bug magnet, it's just the way it is. While I still got a few bites, I would honestly say that this reduced my bites by sand flies by a solid 90% over other products I've used. Combine it with the Cactus Juice Eco-spray, and the cactus juice miracle gel it, for me, it really helped with the bugs.Would be 5 stars but I did find for the sun block factor of it, it needed to be re-applied often, that said, it's SPF 20, it was Honduras, I'm from New England, it was March, and I didn't get burned.

Fabulous product. I had 1st seen the product last week in an area surf shop in Brigantine. They said "we sell it by the cases and the life guards use it". Anyone who has been to Brigantine NJ knows that the green head flies are BRUTAL on the beach. So, I ordered the lotion on Amazon (it was a little less expensive online) and used it this week when we went kayaking in the bay along the south NJ shoreline and applied the product for sunscreen purposes as well as bug repellent. Normally the green head flies eat you a live when you go out to kayak. Such was not the case this week. The flies passed us by. One tried to land on me then it just flew away. Wow. The product also smells great (like oranges). I bought 2 more bottles. I can't wait to use it on the beach this week.

There is no magic solution for the noseeums and mosquitoes in the Florida Keys but this is the best smelling one I've found that's advertised as a sunscreen. It really helps a lot. If I don't use it, I'm covered in bites. When I do, I still might get a bite or two, but trust me, it beats the nasty smell of so many well known brands of repellent. This has a citrus-y scent that I really don't mind at all (and I hate citronella). Definitely worth it if you're looking for an alternative to deet repellents

I live in New England but was turned onto this excellent bug repellent when I was kayaking the buggy buggy coast of Georgia at sunset in 2001. It worked perfectly and I've used it ever since - I rub a small amount on my palms and 'wand' it all over my clothing and hair, hat, sneakers, socks, etc, so I actually use very little and the bugs just hate it. In super buggy places (Honduras) a hundred bugs may hover, but several inches away, they do not come closer and they do not bite. Brilliant! And safe enough for babies.

I can't stand putting on sunscreen. I'm not sure why, but I'd almost rather burn than put myself through lathering it on and then attempting to work it into the skin to get rid of all the white spots. Cactus juice is actually very comfortable to go on... it's not oily, it smells nice, it doesn't make me cringe. Which means I'm more likely to use it.Note, I just ordered a refill, and the bottle label is different than what is pictured, and what I'd received in previous orders. At first I thought it was a fake, so I compared the label to the original website. It looks like they have changed the label and not updated the website. It smells the same, and looks to be the same, I just hope it's the same!

This works well as an insect repellent, a moisturizer, and a sunscreen all at the same time. I even used it to remove several skin spots. I dabbed it on the spots a couple of times per day for several day's and the blemishes disappeared! It is a good idea to not get it to close to your eyes as it says on the label though because it will irritate them a bit. But this is one of my favorite items ever and I intend to be a lifetime buyer! Others that I have told about it wanted to know where I bought it and said they were going to get some also. Prompt delivery and received excellent condition.

I found this product at a campgrounds store on Hunting Island (near Fripp Island), SC about 14 years ago, and tried it since it was an all-natural alternative to DEET for mosquitoes and other biting insects. A bit skeptical, I was surprised and delighted at how effective it was and the bonus is using it also as a sunscreen (SPF20), especially when riding bikes, beach walking in the late day, etc.. I've continued using it and buying it for family and friends. And the scent? A wonderful citrusy (think lemon/lime) aroma, and while it goes on a LITTLE bit greasy (because of the sunscreen), it sinks into your skin fast and you can move on quickly. A great product & highly recommend.
