Approved by EWG- Nurse Approved
Approved by EWG environmental working group. if you're not familiar with this group please check them out! This product is Nurse Approved! EWG are Powerhouse in alerting the government and consumers of dangerous chemicals. The European Union has banned many chemicals that are still used in the United States that are dangerous for human consumption. They also have an app where you could look up any product and it tells you on a scale the chemical exposures you may experience. Who wants to expose themselves and their family more dangerous chemicals? Remember the zinc sunscreen in the 80s and the life guards with the white noses? This sunscreen goes on thick and because of the zinc content does not rub in very easily and stays very white on the skin. I just use a few drops of water to rub it into the skin a little better so I'm not Ghostly white. I've used it four times this summer so far with hours of sun exposure paddleboarding and have not experienced any sun burns. Tanning nicely. It's expensive for the size and the amount of suntan lotion that you get. Knowing that I'm not exposing myself to additional harmful chemicals is worth it for me!

The best reef safe sunblock
Many chemically based sunscreens are toxic to coral reefs and fish. This is a mineral based sunscreen, so it is safe to wear around a reef when diving or snorkeling, and is probably much safer for humans. I burn easily and apply 50 spf at home in VT while gardening, very generously and often and still have quite a tan by the end of the summer. I used this 30 spf so I did not contribute to reef and fish death. This product stays on and protects better than spray sunblock. It has no odor. It is not at all greasy and washes off pretty well with soap. It is easy to reapply even on whey skin. It does rub off on clothes and bathing suits and leaves you a bit white, but that lets you know if you missed a spot. I like it enough that I am switching to using it at home for gardening, when I wear old cloths and dont care what it looks like. I would not wear it to a party! Worth the higher price

It works but....
Bought this for a trip to Mexico where certain sunscreens are banned. I thought it was rather expensive for a small tube. It did work though. I spent several days in the sun including swimming and in parks and did not burn. As others have noted though it doesn't rub in very well. If you weren't white to begin with you will be after applying this stuff. I will say it is much more waterproof than typical sunscreens. After being in water for more than 2 hrs I could still see the areas of my skin where it hadn't been fully rubbed in still had white sunscreen streaks on them. It also doesn't smell bad. So you won't have that tell tale sunscreen smell. I do like that about this sunscreen. Overall its not bad. It does work. I kind of prefer sunscreens that actually rub in though.

Amazed
The product tube looks small, and it can be hard to rub the product in without leaving a white cast. I hated it at first, but after seven days in Mexico my fair skin family is sunburn free. This stuff works! We are pale bordering glow in the dark white, and this protected us completely. We were outside about 9-11 hours a day without a burn in site. The crazy part is we still have sunblock left in the tube. A little goes a long way. I did notice though if you get it on clothing it leaves a white mark till laundered. Stuff is amazing.

Not worth the price or sustainability
Okay, I never write reviews in general, but this sunscreen was a huge no-go for me. To begin, the 3oz container was priced SO high for such a small amount. The bottle wasn't even filled all the way. When I first started applying some, my friend noticed that it wouldn't rub into my skin at all. Left a horrible white cast even after being in the ocean. No matter how hard I rubbed it, it just stuck to my skin and never really got absorbed. After noticing this, I thought, "Oh, maybe that means it'll do an extra good job of protecting my skin from the sun." Spoiler; It didn't. I re-applied every 3-4 hours and still had a splotchy, painful sunburn all over my shoulders, arms, and both sides of my legs. I don't recall having a sunburn to this extremity before whilst using sunscreen. I would leave photos, but that's kind of weird. I wanted to leave this review to let people know you are choosing between the reefs or yourself. Sure, it has a great chemical makeup to not harm the ocean, but it seems like it never considered the person using it. Save your money.

Good If You Don't Care About Ghostly Pallor
I referee soccer, so I need a really good sunscreen for my face, neck, lower arms, and the front and back of my knees; everything else is covered up. I read about this sunscreen on a list of super environmentally friendly sunscreen products and thought I would give it a whirl. It's adequately priced for a mineral-based product. It also protects well; I had it on in full sun for about 5 hours last weekend, and while I got more tanned, I did not get burned. That's the good part. The bad part is that I looked like Casper the Friendly Ghost Ref. This stuff goes on white and stays white. I think if I was on a beach, I wouldn't mind so much. But being out and around people, yeah, it was a little much. It looks like I had sunscreen on that I just hadn't rubbed all the way in, but there was no amount of rubbing that would have made this stuff absorb and more/faster. Maybe I used too much and that was the issue. Regardless, it made me look pale, even after hours of sweating. If you're okay with that, this is a great product. If you are looking for sunscreen that can't be seen, look somewhere else. I'll give this another shot and use less next time to see if that makes a difference. As it is, however, this will not be the first bottle for which I reach.

Awful texture very hard to rub in and left a bad white cast even on my very pale skin

I mean, it’s obviously better for natural waters. But I applied it before a sound bath and wild swim session. When I got up from the yoga Mat there was a full body white imprint still laying there… Good for your conscience bad for your credibility! Haha
