I didn't think there was a huge difference between stud finders so I picked one up for 8 bucks, it found studs that didn't exist or never found a stud. After many, many holes in the bathroom wall I ordered this, the price made me cringe at first but it works flawlessly and it's cheaper in the long run over having to patch holes.

Product does not work as stated.
I bought this for my husband as a gift. I researched some and thought because of the name "shark" it would work well. The product is a 3 in 1. We didn't use the other 2 functions (wire and metal). The stud finder option did not work properly. It did have a pamphlet but didn't not have instructions on how to use it (since they are all different). We tried several times to get it to work correctly but it would just keep beeping even when it wasn't at a stud. We had just put up a shelf so we knew where the stud was and my husband ran it across the wall, it beeped ever 2 inches or so. 😳 I requested a refund to return my product the day we opened it. Some gift!!

Not happy with results
The media could not be loaded. Seems from the reviews this product is hit and miss. Each time I have tried to use this the stud is 4" wide. Its never accurate from one pass to the next. Not happy with results. Sending back.

It is however doing it's job as long as you are coming from the outside of the stud you're good. In other words
This does find the studs in my walls, and it's very accurate as far as the edges go. The readout is supposed to peak at the center of the stud if I'm reading the directions correctly. It does not. it's just either all on when it gets to the edge or it's all off. It is however doing it's job as long as you are coming from the outside of the stud you're good. In other words, if you're moving right to left down the wall, and you hit the edge, mark it, then approach the stud from the other side to find the other edge i.e. left to right. Don't think that you've got both edges by moving the stud finder in one direction the whole time.

Good device, but not for plaster surfaces.
Good stud finder, easy-to-use, works well on typical drywall surfaces. Does not work well for me on plaster walls or ceilings.

Easy as plug battery in
easy and works as expected. i compared it with a professional stud finder and it matched the markings on the wall done by someone else.

This is crap. Zero accurate readings
Summary: This is crap. Zero accurate readings.Explanation: If you don't hold it flat against the wall, everything is a stud and it starts beeping. If you don't hold it flat in air, it starts beeping thinking that the air is a stud. WTF?? I have a testing station (small piece of drywall on stud that I can visually see) and it cannot give an accurate reading of where the edge of the stud is located.

Two Stars
Sorry to say, but even after repeated tries and calibrations the unit didn't always find the same stud.
