Not enough on its own
The CCNA is an absolutely brutal exam, one in which questions will have 5 answers, 4 correct answers, and 2 that are more correct than others, and only one right answer, or 6 nearly-identical answers, 4 correct ones, and just the slightest tip-off in grammar or words being left out that point out an answer as being technically wrong. This book is tremendously well-written. The author(s) has a great droll sense of humor and a way of humanizing the subject matter while always coming across as professional, calm, and well-balanced in knowledge and presentation of information. As it's titled an "Exam Cram", it cannot substitute for a proper reading of Cisco's texts and actual hands-on lab experience. That's not a knock on this book, but having taken the CCNA myself 3 times before passing, I can say that what is offered by this book on its own is only a small piece of overall study material you'll need to pass. The biggest problem with this book is that while it gives somewhat equal treatment to almost every topic the CCNA will cover, it means that topics that require more detail do not get the same amount of attention to detail that you would need. It's not the responsibility of such a book to go deep into details needed, but as an Exam Cram I found at least one or two chapters to be either partially or completely useless as the material covered was done in such a broad manner as to necessitate re-reading the original Cisco chapters (such as with EIGRP and network diagnostic tools) or simply looking elsewhere for the information. The disk that comes with a new copy of the book is also essentially useless, as the practice exam questions it offers are the exact same ones included in the back of the book itself, and are highly limited. A "premium" version of the product adds another few hundred questions to it, which new copies of the book include a discount for. You are better off not getting this premium version and spending extra on a more helpful and accurate set of practice exams offered by Boson or Transcender. The questions in the practice exams are moderately helpful, but compared to what I experienced on the CCNA, there were far too many easy or "giveaway" questions on the ExamCram practice exams, such as "What does a router do?" or "How do you enable port security?". My favorite dumb question was one asking how to enable password encryption, with four possible options. All of them were exactly the same with different positioning of the dash ("service-password encryption", "service password-encryption", "service-password-encryption", "service password encryption"). Questions like these might've been helpful for the CCENT 1 or 2, where the subject matter gets more questions, but for the composite CCNA, these were essentially throwaways.Ultimately, the last mark against this ExamCram is that it is somewhat lacking in proofreading. This frequently appears in the form of very minor typos which appear constantly, and in two very major cases in some of the chapter review questions where three different questions are given the incorrect answer. Another question is answered as a multiple-choice option when the question asked was True or False.Given that the difference between passing and failing a CCNA can come down to the most tiny, minute of details missed, misinterpreted, or misunderstood. One of the review questions was wrong in such a way that would prove disastrous if someone were using just this book as a study guide and ended up mis-learning a single fact that could derail an entire slew of questions as a result.

Don't Rely On the Answers, but it's still not bad
I also purchased Odom's CCENT/CCNA books, so I can write a decent comparison.PRO (CCNA Routing and Switching Exam Cram): concise, easy to read, definitely not boring. With Odom's books, you will find your eyes starting to either shut or glaze over the material. If you are in a hurry to take the exam, and try to read 1 chapter every night (or even every two nights), you will see what I mean.CON (CCNA Routing and Switching Exam Cram): TOO MANY mistakes in the quizzes/review exams at the end or in the middle of each chapters. You will scratch your head, asking "How can this be the answer, if the router number is not even mentioned in the question?" I mean, it's bad, seriously. My advice: Buy Odom's books AND THIS exam cram book. I would first read the Exam Cram book, and if you have any question/doubt, look for the same subject/material/explanation in Odom's books. Then, because you will hopefully have obtained a foundation for CCNA, you can read Odom's books and truly appreciate the depth of the material and focus on the details (you will need them for the exam)UPDATE: I am done with the book, and the deeper into it you get, the worse the quizzes are. I now would advise anyone to not even complete the quizzes. The answers provided for them are just filled with mistakes, or just totally wrong. Very poor editing. Yeah, just use the book as a quick overview, but get a test generator somewhere else.

Concise, easy to read, yet early edition
I received this book two days after release date, having pre-ordered and using prime shipping. The book arrived, and the cover glue was barely holding the cover on (it later fell off on second day of reading). The book is standard Exam Cram style, with a lot of information covered very concisely. It does a good job of hitting all of the highlights of the Cisco requirements. There are a few minor mistakes I've found in the testing pack included with it, but the authors have responded to every submitted error and updated the testing software quickly. Now, the real question, did it help me pass? Well, this was my second attempt at my renewal, and it got me very close (821 out of 825 needed), but not quite there. The book does have an excellent discussion of subnetting, yet the emphasis I've seen on the exam for Frame Relay could possibly use a little heavier coverage.I do think the cram sheet (common in the Exam Cram books) at the beginning packs too much into too small of a space, without tables that could make items clearer, but it is mostly for review right before you walk into the test...Overall the book is good, well written with a bit of humor here and there to lighten the subject matter.

Very good book to cram for your CCNA
This book is really good to refresh the CCNA material and then go take the exam, that being said it doesn't go too deep into details but instead focuses on covering as much exam content as possible. Very good option for someone that is taking in class training for the exam, not so good for someone who does not have networking/ Cisco background (my opinion). This book and the "CCNA Routing and Switching Study Guide: Exams 100-101, 200-101, and 200-120" by Todd Lammle make a very good combo, that's what I'm using to get ready for the CCNA.

It is not enough by itself! If you are ...
It is not enough by itself! If you are not currently a Cisco Admin type, then yes it is for you, but not for the amateur. The lack of Hands-on exercises is much lacking. The info portion of the book is more than adequate for the knowledge based Domains of the CCNA, but the lack of hands-on exercises make it only partially effective.

Poorly written Book
Loads of typos and poorly laid out. Your best bet is too look at the book first before you buy.The exam disc is nothing like the CCNA exam you would take either.Next time i shall purchase the Official Cisco book.Very poor from Pearson.
