Sons of Anarchy, a dark drama set in Charming, a sheltered community watched over by a renegade motorcycle club intent on protecting the town from the newcomers that threaten it. Jackson 'Jax' Teller is one member of the brotherhood, who finds his own loyalty to the group tested when he experiences its increasing lawlessness and notoriety, while at the same time adjusting to life as a father. But confusing matters are Jax's mother and stepfather, two ruthless individuals who happen to be the masterminds behind the club. Review: was looking for something new & different towatch on TV - Charming. "Pleasing or delightful". That's a definition. In "Sons of Anarchy," Charming is something much different. A month and a half, or so, ago, was looking for something new & different to watch on TV. "Justified" was over. None of the shows airing currently really grabbed me other than to serve as a sleeping pill to an insomniac. OK ... I won't go into this again. But, in case you ever find yourself in a similar conundrum, here's my take. Sorry for repeating myself [from previous posts] and in an effort to avoid spoilers I must mince words. First of all, the show features graphic sex, some real weird depravity, uses the name of Our Lord in vain - routinely - and is one of the more violent tales you are ever likely to see. Got you chomping at the bit, don't I? So, in "Sons of Anarchy," Charming is the name of a town - their town - and it serves as a metaphor, or maybe a euphemism, some kind of literary word ... it represents the idyllic, "pleasing or delightful," small-town America. Finished the Seven Season Long Movie late last night. It started, it seems like eons ago, with a couple of crows in the road. It ended with that same scene. All hell breaks lose in the interim. Still wrapping my brain around it. Very few television shows - or, movies even - leave me as emotionally spent as this show did. I will carry it around with me for some time. "Sons of Anarchy" is dark & dirty and not the easiest show to watch. You'll have to commit. Perhaps, watching only the first 2, or 3, or 4 Seasons - maybe up through the first few episodes of Season 5 - and then just stopping is the way to go. You might feel semi-fulfilled without the weight. I don't know, because I didn't stop. Why watch then? Well, it's worth it, if you can make it. The cast is A+. You will get to know the many layers of each and every character. They are not the most loveable characters, but you will be inexplicably drawn to many of them. There is depth to them. The banter is wonderful; just enough of it to lighten up things just a tad and provide you with a chuckle just when you need it most. All the production stuff is impeccable. The show's use of music is probably done as well as I have ever seen a show utilize a soundtrack. Some of the songs, coupled with accompanying character vignettes, tell a complete story within themselves. And there are many stories. And that, is the main reason you should watch. Despite the pain and darkness, despite an unusual turn-off for a few episodes during Seasons 6 & 7 - a side bar that, for the life of me, the relevance I cannot figure out. A part of the story that we really didn't need to see - especially, if you are a "Justified" fan. Despite those things, it is an amazingly compelling, complex, well spun yarn. Very well written. They just don't make 'em like this very often. So, it's over now. All 7 Seasons in several weeks. The rest of TV Land will seem like so much pablum ... until, at least, I can shake off the effects. There were points there, especially in the later Seasons, where I didn't know whether I could make it through. But I did. You won't feel happy when it's over ... I don't know what you'll feel ... but you WILL feel. Maybe, you'll have a better feeling for the meaning of life. Charming, though, it's not. Review: Blu-Ray Version - Far Superior Picture Quality. - This review is more about the physical product rather than the story line, though I will quickly say that this series is awesome and is kind of The Sopranos of the biker gang world. Fast-paced, action-packed, awesome acting, and story lines that will get you tied up with and rooting for the Sons. I recently purchased a 4k 55 inch smart TV from Argos (sorry, desertcart) Sony Bravia KD55XD8005 55 inch Android 4K HDR Ultra HD Smart TV with TRILUMINOS Display, PlayStation Now and Google Cast (2016 Model) - Black , mainly to enhance the playing of my PS4 Pro games. However, I did find that because the screen is so big, when I watch DVDs, particularly older DVDs, the picture quality wasn't that good. I guessed this was because the TV was basically enlarging the picture so much, just like if you enlarge an image on your PC, you'll eventually lose quality. I noticed this whilst watching my Sons of Anarchy box set. So I decided to spend a little extra cash and purchase the Sons Blu-Ray box set. I am glad I did! The picture quality on a 55 inch TV is far superior with this Blu-Ray version than with the normal DVD version. No loss of picture quality or clarity, awesome sound and a nice selection of extras, including commentary on various episodes. The box set consists of a flimsy cardboard housing containing two gated plastic boxes. The first box contains series 1-4 (12 discs - 53 episodes), and the second series 5-7 (11 discs, 39 episodes). 23 discs and 92 episodes in total. Extras include: Gag reels Deleted Scenes Extended Creator's Cut on Selected Episodes. The making of... And many more. So, if you have neither the DVD or Blu-Ray box set, and you are thinking of getting either one, and you have a Blu-Ray player and a HDTV/4KTV, then treat yourself to the Blu-Ray box set. If you already have the DVDs but are wondering if it is worth upgrading to Blu-Ray, I say yes!

Loved The Series
When you follow the story of a young rebel, such as Jax Teller, that story is going to drag you in and take you for the ride of your life. Sons of Anarchy does this while walking a fine wire that never breaks. I love the series. I saw it on discount and new I had to get it before the price increased. What I will say, if you are a fan of the series, or the actors, then having Sons of Anarchy in your collection should be a must. The box set came all safely packed, the discs easily accessible and in running order. I can't fault anything.

Sons Of Anarchy
Video and audio are of high quality. The quality of a Blu-ray is consistently superior to any other streaming application. It is definitely worth the investment for the most immersive viewing experience.

At last a great series that is well packaged, about tme.
Nothing wrong with this packaging that's for sure, I'm very happy all round and after the recent, slight disappointment at the new GOT season 4 skimpy packaging and the huge disappointment that was star trek TNG. With so many going the cheap plastic case route & skimping on packaging it was becoming a sad story when ever a new set came out, joy at the release followed by disappointment on delivery day but not here, sons of anarchy is amazing, this set looks amazing and I'm very pleased that we get a great package with some nice artwork a replica table and no plastic boxes. Some may moan and complain about the sleeves that the discs are held in but not me, I like them, I've never had scratched discs and the discs have a good protective coating on them these days so unless your reckless (or you pick the box-set up pre-owned) there shouldn't be any issues whatsoever, my bond 50th set, harry potter Hogwarts set, and my breaking bad set are all as good as new. Well done amazon & well done @FOX now just waiting for 24 & X-files to be given this same treatment (this year please) Lets also hope that other studios take note and move away from the disgraceful packaging that we've been given over the last year. Whoever came up with jumbo boxes need help, Worst packaging design ever.

I'm somewhat surprised to have one of these sets at all (Collector's Blu-Ray with table box) as for a while I thought they were a database error on Amazon's behalf ... I was wrong. The set arrives in an outer card box with the polycarb (?) replica table box inside. Inside that are the 7 individual seasons boxes, each a folding card binder. I have two issues: one is that the USA version of this same box has a very nice looking art book that fits inside properly (there's a ribbon inside for lifting it out that is now redundant and two that the season 1-7 cardboard sleeves don't actually fill the box. I wondered what was banging around in mine before I opened it and it turned out to be season 1 traversing the full width of the box under gravity. Even some foam packing would have prevented that! This is very impractical too because to get to seasons 6 and 7 you have to get the polycarb box out of the cardboard box and then lift all of seasons 1 to 5 out of the way. Madness really but it looks good. A great series of course but you know that.

Excellent
Did not think this would be my cup of Darjeeling, how wrong I was, fantastic series just sucks you into the world of crime and violence the MC live in along with wives and girlfriends (old lady's), shame it had to end but oh what a ride ( excuse pun) in the meantime.
