Buyers remorse..
I bought this book right before the arrival of our second child, and after receiving it and leafing through it, I was disappointed to find literally no useful topics or details. In my opinion everything was very straightforward and matter-of-fact, and I am a bit shocked that this has received such strong reviews in the last as I thought most of the content was very much simple common sense.

Fantastic Guide to Second Children
I was feeling a bit anxious about the second baby we’re expecting in a couple of months so decided to read this book. I found it very reassuring, detailed and interesting. I now feel a lot more prepared and would recommend this book to any one looking for a bit of guidance around a second baby.

Not very useful
A lot of unnecessary information on planning for a second child. Was looking more for a book to transit the elder child into welcoming the second baby home and how to cope with as a mum with two kids. Will not recommend.

A really comprehensive read for those considering a second baby
My husband and I are currently TTC our second baby. I came across this book because I am signed up to Sarah Ockwell-Smith's email newsletter. It has come at the perfect time. After spending lots of time googling "second pregnancy", I haven't found much written on the subject. As usual, Sarah writes in a comprehensive way - full of personal anecdotes as well as research - and is very informative as well as calming. She covers everything from the decision to have a second baby to sibling rivarlry, to deciding to have more than two children. I like that she also includes a section on dealing with a previous loss of a child. Since it covers so many areas, the book acts as a good resource for dipping in and out of and reading the section that is currently relevant to you. I read it from start to finish because I found it so interesting, but I think I will definitly re-read sections as our second-child journey progresses.I would highly reccomend this book to anyone thinking about a second child, as well as those already pregnant with or who already have a young second baby.

An easy, reassuring read
With a toddler and a newborn (the same age as Sarah's book!) I don't have much time to read but I managed to get through this book quickly as it's not too long or heavy. It contains lots of valuable information all the way through the second child journey - I just wish it came out 9 months ago!
