Six teens murdered. Suspect arrested. Desperate father. Truth hidden. Psychiatrist Gwen Moore must profile killer and victims to uncover the real story. Review: Twisted phycological thriller, brilliant!! - Oh wow, this book was amazing. I love this authors work but this did take me by suprise and it was so good. As always the writing is perfect, lots of twist and turns, shocks I never for once seen coming and brilliant characters to get lost in. Gwen Moore is a psychologist who specialises is patients with violent and dangerous fantasies, she comes across as a confident successful lady who knows her job well and is very good at it. She meets Defense Attorney Robert Kavin in a bar one night and they click. They get talking and realise they have more in common than she first thinks. Robert has lost his only son to The Bloody Heart Killer aka BH Killer and he hires Gwen to do a profile on the man that has been arrested for the crimes, Robert thinks he is innocent and intends to represent him. As you can imagine this causes some whispers behind closed doors and this is where the fun really starts. There are more twists and turns in this book than you will ever imagine. just when you think you have it all worked out this author takes the reader on a different path and not just once either but many times. Loved it so much. I opened this book and literally could not put it down. Brilliant phycological thriller you won't want to miss. Review: Engaging story with dark twists - This has everything I love in a book - dark twists, engaging story, unpredictable characters and a serial killer. It’s also full of sharp tension and that addictive chemistry between the two lead characters. The premise is instantly chilling - six teens murdered. A suspect behind bars. A desperate father. The truth hiding in the shadows. With this book, A R Torre delivers another jaw-dropping thriller with a twist so impossible to predict, tension tightening page by page and sharp, suffocating pacing. I enjoyed the detailed insights into psychological profiling, and personality disorders, which added authenticity and weight. The Good Lie is dark and twisty and absolutely everything I like about crime fiction, a short, quick read that’s difficult to put down, and with a wickedly unpredictable ending it’s highly entertaining.

The Good Lie by A. R. Torre
The Good Lie by A. R. Torre gets a solid 3.5 stars from me. This was a really engaging, fast-paced thriller that kept me turning the pages, even when I wasn’t entirely sure how I felt about the characters. Torre does a great job building tension and creating a sense that something is always just slightly “off,” which made the reading experience feel immersive and uneasy in a good way. The highlight for me was definitely the twist. I actually started to piece it together just before the reveal, but that didn’t take away from my enjoyment—in fact, it made it more satisfying to see it all come together. Looking back, the clues were there, but subtle enough that it still felt clever and well-executed. That said, I didn’t feel completely blown away. Some of the characters felt a bit underdeveloped, and there were moments where the pacing either rushed through emotional beats or lingered a little too long on less important details. Because of that, I never felt fully invested on a deeper level, even though I was hooked on the plot. Overall, The Good Lie is a compelling and clever thriller with a memorable twist, even if it doesn’t quite hit every mark. Definitely worth a read if you enjoy psychological suspense with a surprising payoff.

Great book. Fab writing
Pleasantly surprised. I ordered this book, because it was chosen in our book club. I wouldn’t have known about it otherwise. It’s a great read. Took me a little to get into it. But once I did I was hooked.

One of the most captivating psychological thrillers with an outstanding plot
“Part of the game, for many killers, is the con of the innocent, the hiding of the monster, the successful deception that proves to them that they are smarter and therefore superior” The “Bloody Heart” BH killer, is one of the most depraved serial killers and he is difficult to profile and almost impossible to catch. He wants to be famous; he wants credit for each kill, he toys with his victims for weeks before killing them, but he leaves no signs and no evidence. The BH killer is controlled, organised, intelligent and analytical but a showman who displays the bodies spread-eagled, the genitals removed, a heart carved into the chest of each victim (his calling card), and their pinkie finger removed. Yet there are inconsistencies, there is evidence that the killer is showing acts of kindness because some of the wounds inflicted during their captivity have been treated. Why? And Who is this person? Dr Gwen Moore is a psychiatrist, treating patients with violent tendencies. As well as being notified by police that her patient John Abbott may have murdered his wife Brooke before committing suicide, Gwen is approached by defense attorney, Robert Karin, to help profile the serial killer. He is convinced that his client is innocent and Scott Harden who accused his client of the abduction and murder knows more than he is saying. What complicates the story even more is the personal connection Robert has to the case, for his own son was also murdered by the BH Killer. This book is multi layered, with a cast of convincing characters that seem interconnected in some way, but the link is difficult to make, and too many people are keeping secrets which further heightens the tension in the book. The story telling is superb, and the author uses their knowledge and / or research of the topic of psychology and personality disorder to write a very credible book with a wicked plot, lots of red herrings and an unpredictable ending. This is one of the most captivating psychological thrillers with an outstanding plot full of suspense and tension. If you haven’t read already, get a copy, then sit down and put your seat belt on because you are in for one hell of a ride.

great book
Thoroughly enjoyed this book and felt that the pace was good and that just enough information was given at once, to prevent becoming overwhelmed or confused. 4* rating due to my pettiness of getting the killer wrong …

Psychoanalysis is a dense and difficult subject to understand. But when you try demystifying it and weave an intriguing plot around the whole thing, the result is an intensely engaging and absorbing narrative. One of his best books.

4.5 stars! I reserve my 5 star ratings to my favorite books. This one was damn close!! Out of the 10 books I read this month, this final one was by far the best one!! Start to finish it held my attention and I didn't want to stop listening! The narrator did a fantastic job as well! This story was captivating. I always try to guess the ending and I was wayyyy far off at first and then got a little closer as some pieces were put together but I still NEVER guessed the full correct plot ending. It was great! I couldn't read it fast enough! I commend A.R Torre and look forward to more books by this author! READ IT NOW!

This has been on my TBR for at least a year and I can’t think why I’ve waited so long to read it. I absolutely loved it. There’s something about A.R. Torre’s writing style that instantly captivated me and I honestly couldn’t put it down. Great character development too! We get right to the heart of the matter as psychiatrist Dr. Gwen Moore discovers that one of her patients has killed his wife and then committed suicide. Had she misread the signs, could she have stopped it? But she barely has time to think about what she could have done differently when she discovers that the Bloody Heart serial killer has finally been caught. To everyone's surprise, defence lawyer Robert Kevin and father of one of the victims, takes up his defence. And now he wants Gwen to evaluate his client. But why would he defend the killer of his son? What an intricate plot, full of surprises and shocking revelations! I loved the way everything came together at the end. It was like navigating through mud until the truth finally hit me like a bucket of clear water! I don't know if this is the best explanation, but I'm sure you understand what I mean!😆 Well, Torre has gained a new fan and I can't wait to read more of her books!
