This Thinkdiag device can help tremendously with your car diagnostic
This Thinkdiag device is amazing! The item was well packaged and also fits in a some sort of a cushion inside the box. It appears to be strong and connects flawlessly. I Installed the Thinkdiag+ app, created an account, and activated the device with the information included in the box. Then, I plugged the device in the OBD port of my car and I was able to see things that I did not know existed even though there is currently no CEL on my car dashboard. I was able to know exactly which tires are responsible for the TPMS light and also the state of the batteries and sensors. I also looked at some live data for my evap system and graphed some of them for better understanding. The Thinkdiag showed that the O2 sensors are working just fine and that the catalytic converter may be failing. The tool even showed the temperatures in and out of the catalytic converter which is very important in knowing its efficiency. I did not notice any connection issue and the speed was good in my case. This tool can be for beginners, intermediate, or advance DIYers. If you are new to this, take time to read the messages that appear on the screen when you request a function. If you are not sure, just don’t continue and go do some research on the topic if needed since this device gives you advanced access to your car vehicle computer. I think this is money well spent and its cost is actually less than the diagnostic fee from any dealership. This device can actually program additional keys for your vehicle and remove old keys depending on which car you drive. If you own a Honda or a Toyota, you know how much it costs for an extra key from the dealer. All in all, I think buying this device was a good investment even if you use it for one or two car diagnostics or simply to program a key/remote. The only downside is that there is a subscription fee after the free year for the reset services and the systems. If you don’t renew, the reset functions and all systems will go away, but you will still be able to use the OBD function and even see some live data. The renewal options are not very clear or efficiently structured in my opinion. It is as if it would make more sense to get another device with a free year instead of renewing the full package. Even the cost to renew one reset service seems a little overboard in my opinion, but I trust that they know what they are doing and I am not trying to tell them how to run their business. If this was an option, my rating would actually be 4.5 out 5 because of that. However, the device performed well and it provided me with the info needed. Depending on your needs and how much you know or willing to learn about car data, this may be a good tool to have in your glove box.

Wow, just buy this tool you won't be sorry
For those who like it when someone gets straight to the point yes you should buy this scan tool, keep reading and I'll tell you why. I've been in automotive repair for 26 years and this is by far the most scan tool for the least amount of cash I've ever owned. I would classify scan tools in the following way: 1. A code reader (capable of pulling codes from the main computer of a vehicle and looking at basic data). 2. An entry level scanner (capable of reading multiple modules and possibly doing some reset features). 3. A bi-directional scan tool (capable of reading all modules and performing all sorts of resets and calibrations) 4. A full featured scan tool with all the bells and whistles possibly having an oscilloscope or other attachments. This scanner is firmly planted in the 3rd category and is very capable of diagnosing even very difficult problems. The Thinkdiag would be useable by people at all levels of automotive understanding from the DIY weekend warrior to a seasoned diagnostician. Now for what most people want to know yes this tool can scan every module (assuming the module is communicating) and has bi-directional tests for almost all of them. The data stream has selectable data so you can select all or just a few data PIDs (parameter ids) and the refresh rate was very good even with multiple PIDs selected at once. The graphing is good but doesn't yet reach the level of great. Graphs have the line trace as well as the value in large print at the top and they are scaleable for time and voltage so zooming in and out is as easy as possible. You can combine multiple graphs at once as you need to do many times while diagnosing how two sensors react at the same time or how something affects another part of the vehicle. The bi-directional tests have good controls and you can add data from the data stream to see how something is affected by controlling it on and off. I have used this feature many times and it adds so much to the scanner's abilities. I have found a couple of instances where a test won't function as I hoped but this happens with all scan tools even ones that cost multiple thousands of dollars. As far as setting up the Thinkdiag connected to my phone easily with bluetooth and as soon as the diagnostic software downloaded (don't get worried it took a little bit on this part) it was able to jump right into full functionality. It scanned for the VIN and then performed a health report which was organized very well. I emailed the report to myself and it looks great so for anyone doing this in a professional setting sending this to a customer or saving it for their own records it will look top notch. The user interface is laid out very well and menus are very easy to navigate. Many times the software will help with selections either being labeled with more than an acronym so that if you don't know that SCCM is for the steering the tool tells you. I don't see any downsides to this tool. Much of the time when buying a scan tool there are trade-offs where you justify the trade-off with the price of the tool but this tool takes on other tools that are easily ten times it's price range (Autel, Launch, Zurich, Snap-on, and Matco) and it just flat out performs right there on their level at a tiny fraction of the price. Now, you do have to do yearly updates to maintain the Thinkdiag's functionality but even if I had to buy a new one each year I would have to buy this tool many times over to come close to the prices of its cheapest competitors. In short, buy this tool and don't look back this is a game changer for sure.

Can be challenging to interpret, customer service is the worst
There are some things that are intuitive and some are not at all. I've reached out on several questions and only received one response with a very convoluted answer. Either they don't know what their machine can and can't do or they don't speak English. Needless to say, only buy this if you feel you can get by with no customer service. On the pro side, I was able to use some features like diagnosing cylinder misfire. Although, even that is pretty messed up. On the diagnoses it shows cylinders 0 - 11. So is 0 cylinder 1? Eventually the engine threw a code for one cylinder misfiring repeatedly. Fortunately the engine code indicated the correct cylinder. It was number 11 and the Thinkdiag showed number 10 as the culprit. Another interesting flaw to share, despite using the correct VIN and the Thinkdiag identifying the car as a 2007 Aston Martin DB9, when looking for the rail pressures it looks for a MY08 and then can't read the pressure. How can it know its a MY07 but then try to read rail pressure for a MY08? And since the engines are identical, why can't it read it despite the MY issue? On the good side, it does a nice job of identifying engine codes and has the ability to track down more detail on most of them. Since this requires a yearly subscription I will definitely not renew and instead just purchase a Foxwell NT510 where it has almost all of the same capabilities and no annual fee. I'd encourage anyone looking at this ODB reader to do the same and go Foxwell. I think you'll save yourself a lot of headaches.

Updated: The Thinkdiag works very well and has all of the options you could ever need ...... For the first year. Five stars for the first year. After that first year it basically turns into a basic code reader. Every module you try to use after that year, you will need to pay for each module individually. UPDATE: I RECENTLY FOUND THAT YOU CAN RENEW ALL LICENCES AT ONCE FOR A RELATIVELY LOW COST. This scanner has now saved me many $$ . I have tested it side by side with scanners that the dealership use and found it to be equal to them.
