After my initial of the experience of being unable to charge my Apple devices directly from the solar charger, I purchased a battery pack. I was also unsuccessful in getting the solar charger to charge the battery pack. I don't know whether or not the unit that I received was defective, but I ended up returning it.

Great for charging 1 thing at a time in direct sunlight ONLY!!(charges slow). Works well when outside all day. Will give a charge especially in emergency enough for call. For the price you can't go wrong.

This panel is for our 'bug out' kit, so we will hopefully never have to use it. Thus the 4 stars as I really don't know and hope not to. As far as a description goes. It is small, light and would be easy to carry on the backpack and there is a built in USB attachment for your adapter. I feel very good HAVING it, I just hope we never have to use it. LOL.

When I received this I was initially disappointed. It's made in China. The packaging looks cheap. The protective film over the solar cells is sewn into it. However, I was going camping before Amazon's return period would be up so I knew I would be able to test it and return it if it turned out to be junk.Other reviewers recommended using this with a battery pack because Apple products tend to 'disconnect' themselves from unstable power sources (perhaps to protect against power surges?). The battery pack recommended on the back of the box is a 6000mA Touch Power Bank. The battery pack I was already using for travel is the Patriot FUEL+ 9000mAh Dual-Port Rechargeable Battery Power Bank, so I used this instead.I was getting about three to four hours of direct sunlight without clouds on most days. The one day when the battery pack was still below 3/4 charged before I hit the trail, I tied it onto my pack and took it hiking through the woods. Despite it being a somewhat cloudy day and being in shade for a good portion of the day, the battery pack was fully charged by the time I reached camp.Please note that I never charged my phone or other devices directly from the solar panel, nor did I ever completely drain the battery pack. However, this solar panel kept my battery pack above 3/4 charge, thus keeping my phone fully charged, for several days despite only being in direct sunlight for a few hours a day.The weight is 300 grams or 10.6 ounces. My battery pack is 188 grams or roughly 6.6 ounces.

Purchased 2 of these, one for our family, and another for friends, figuring it would be great for charging phones while hiking.Neither family was successful at getting it to charge anything. Nice concept, but disappointing results.

Considering the low price, this thing works amazingly well! Apple products are NOTORIOUSLY picky about charging, however, in direct sunlight this PV panel charges my iPad and iPhone with no trouble whatsoever. I'm pleasantly surprised at how well it works.

This solar charger is great, charges my galaxy s4 without any problems as long as you keep the solar panel clean. Really like that it folds up so you can store it in a backpack. Durable and functional. 4 out of 5 stars
