Attractive, accurate, easy to hang
I bought this for indoors. I chose the red one, which complements my apple-print curtains, is attractive, and easy to hang on the wall. Mine did not need calibrating. I purchased it as an alternative to the vertical type with red fluid inside (which used to be mercury). Those can play tricks on your eyes depending on the height and angle you're viewing from. With this one--no question, right on the mark. I had actually been looking at digital thermometers, but when I found this one I decided why get one that needs batteries. In fact the main reason I bought it is my exasperation at how often my thermostat batteries run down. And since I leave them set the same at all times, now it doesn't matter if they go dead. Now I just need to get another one of these for the bedroom--well worth the money and no need for batteries.

Attractive - A Little Hard To Read From A Distance
We have the thermometer hanging outside on the porch. It is protected from severe weather and direct sun by a log post. So far, seems to reflect a reasonably accurate temperature. We wanted something we could glance at from the house to determine the outdoor temperature. I was looking for a digital with huge numbers, but unfortunately couldn't find anything decorative that works that way. This thermometer is hanging about 5 feet from the window and is fairly visible. I can recommend this one, but be aware you have to really look carefully to get a good read on the temperature - those hash marks are awfully tiny from 5 feet away. It is an attractive piece, but we lost some clarity in order to get that. Definitely not for those seeking pinpoint accurate temperature readings.

absolutely terrible accuracy. don't bother.
ordered 2. thought the one was inaccurate just because of it's location. have one in the garage out of the sun and elements, also completely inaccurate. save your money.

Limited life
ordered this to replace an identical one that worked fine for 3 years then suddenly, perpetually remained at 81 degrees. This is paired with a clock that has always run 1-2 minutes slow per week.I would have gladly purchased a different, even more expensive clock/thermometer set but similar ones don't seem to either exist or be available

Stylish and accurate
This is a great little thermometer - ordered in the copper finish and it looks like it cost more than it really did. I was hesitant to order at first because some reviewers noted that it wasn't very accurate and that it was hard to calibrate but I found that's not the case. I left it on my kitchen counter for a day to give it a chance to acclimate to my house temp and it was within a degree of what my thermostat was reporting. I took a flat head screwdriver and gave it a little turn and the needle moved easily to exactly where I wanted it. Only change I'd make is I wish it came in a bigger size like 12", but in my case the smaller one still does the trick. Great purchase!

Looses accuracy at colder temps.
The thermometer looks great and has held up well aesthetically. The temps above 50 in the spring and summer were fairly accurate compared to other thermometers. Now that winter is here the colder it gets the farther off this thermometer is. It is currently 20 degrees outside but this thermometer reads 29. I took it indoors and placed it next to my garage thermometer. After giving it plenty of time to acclimate, the garage is at 40 but this thermometer reads 45. I then brought this thermometer inside the house into the living room where the temp is 68. This thermometer reads correctly at 68.So I cannot calibrate it to read correctly in freezing temps or else I presume it will then later be off during warmer weather.

Good thermometer
This is the second thermometer I have purchased from Bjerg Instruments, and I am very satisfied with this one, too. It's hanging in the garage, The metal case was sold as copper color, and it indeed looks like copper; it's a semi-gloss finish., The case looks just like the illustration on-line, and the back is plastic. It is supposed to be adjustable for fine tuning the temperature, but it seems to be OK just as received. I don't know if this model will do well outside since the mechanism is partially exposed in the back. It was well packed in a sturdy cardboard box, and Amazon shipped it in their usual Amazon box. It's made in China, but very good looking and carefully assembled.
