We hammered, twisted and swirled 1/8" diameter aluminum wire to make this unique Celtic knot influenced shawl pin, scarf stick, sweater clip or brooch. Aluminum makes it much lighter than it appears. Really! We smoothed all the edges so that it will not catch on your shawl, scarf or hair. This pin would work best on an open weave/ knit type garment and is NOT intended for tightly woven fabric.The pin measures about 3 1/2- 4 3/8" long and about 1 3/4-2 1/2" across the widest part. The stick pin part with the spiral on top that slips through the main swirls and curls design to secure the pin is about 4 3/4 - 5 3/4" long. You can gently bend the outer edges of the main piece to create a looser or tighter fit with the pin. It can be worn as a sweater brooch too! This pin would work best on an open weave/ knit type garment and is not intended for tightly woven cloth fabric. It is often hard to know if a hair accessory will work well for your particular type of hair without trying it on first. We wouldn't recommend this pin for very long or heavy hair but it is also too big for thin or short hair.You will receive your pin wrapped in colorful tissue paper in a nice gift box and tied with a bow ready for gift giving. The pin in the pictures is a representative pin and not the exact same one that you will receive. We hand make each pin and try hard to make them look the same. There may be some minor differences but the one you will receive will look very similar to the one you see in the pictures.Sometimes a gray mark may be left on the exit and entrance points of the pin on a light colored garment due to the abrasive nature of wool on aluminum. Aluminum does not tarnish like silver does. It may become a little duller over time. It can be washed in soapy water and shined up with a polishing cloth.
