Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2

First of all if you plan to play this game on a Windows 7 computer, you will have problems with the introduction, menu buttons and backgrounds, and the before/after mission cutscenes. You'd have to switch between the game and your on high desktop to navigate the menus. There is another fix that requires you to fiddle with your monitor (look up on youtube/forums). But the way that works for me is this: Make your monitor run on high performance. That fixes all the visual problems. Secondly, this is a great game. I've never played Red Alert 1 but I've seen videos and to me, RA2 looks like a huge step up. You do have those trademark cheesy live action cutscenes (that are present in even the most recent C&C game) but those just add to the games charm. Play as the Allied forces or the Soviet army. Skirmish mode lets you play against a number of computer controlled opponents. You choose a country that is either part of the Soviets or the Allies. Each country has their own special unit, some that were not included in the campaign. You can also play online but I'm pretty a lot of practice is required. A lot of skilled players out there that will decimate you in minutes. Great game though and I do recommend it.

It is nice game the only thing was there cover that hold the CDs was broken. Other than that it is good game. Also, make sure the game is compatible with your system.

Finally I was able to play this awesome game on WINDOWS XP...the original version that I have for some reason wouldn't work on my new PC that I got. So I had to keep an old PC going just for this game....and what a game it is...I never tire of playing the game, mostly in skirmish mode... they tried to do so many different things to it in Red Alert 3 and so on but this one is hands down an excellent strategy game... my favourite for over 10 years now...

I should have read the other reviews before making this impulse buy because just like several other reviews have said, this game won’t install on a computer running anything newer than windows xp. I will attempt to make a return.
