This preserved reindeer moss from Super Moss is absolutely stunning! The black, red, and purple tones are rich and dramatic—perfect for adding depth and texture to my ritual vessels, shadow boxes, and nature-inspired art. It’s soft, pliable, and beautifully preserved, making it ideal for both visual impact and tactile charm. I use it constantly in my studio and it never disappoints. This makes my plants look so much better, cuz I don’t have much of a green thumb. I sprayed it with water before working with it , but I that’s not needed. In fact it comes off on you hands (used light green) especially as I was covering a moss ball, that needed the moss to fit. It’s still nice and soft after 2 weeks. May buy some more for my outdoor plants, if the wind ever stops.

Color comes off on everything. It looks great, but it makes a mess if you aren’t diligent.

I used to buy this locally at my hardware store's garden center but it went out of business so I turned to Amazon. It was $6 cheaper than at the store. I use it on top of my planters to cover the soil and it gives such a pretty look to my pots. It is dyed so when I water I notice yellow green water running out the pots but It hasn't hurt my plants. Over time it does fade to a pale green and being natural, it does break down and needs to be replaced. I'd say twice a year is good. Its a good sized bag and enough to cover the tops of 10, 6" pots twice a year.

I purchased black moss to top my indoor plants. Problem is the black dye STAINS badly. When someone walked by, small pieces of moss fell from planters onto our refinished wood floors, causing a dark yellow to black stain where the tiny piece of moss landed (same color your hands will be after handling this stuff). Same staining but to a lesser extent on our quartz counters and hearth. Neither our floors nor quartz surfaces have EVER been stained by any substance in the 5 years that I’ve owned my house, so this is highly aggravating. No household cleaner meaningfully improves the stains and the damage is gobsmacking. Aside from that, the plants that these were used to decorate are now trying to die, but I have removed the moss (straight into the trash with tongs and rubber gloves) and will try rehabbing the plants. AVOID purchasing this product unless it’s intended to throw at your enemies: DO NOT BRING THIS PRODUCT INTO YOUR HOME or allow it to come into contact with anything that you don’t want destroyed. UPDATING with additional images of staining caused by brief handling (less than 10 seconds) and contact with sides of planter (~2ish weeks).

I bought this to complete 25 wedding centerpieces that had red manzanita branches cemented into satin gold wooden boxes that measured 5.75"x5.75". To conceal the cement, we hot glued the moss on the cement. The preserved moss withstood the hot glue, was easy to blend seamlessly to each other, and was easy to trim. About smell: it smelled like fresh dug dirt- very earthy. It felt soft and fresh even though it was preserved- so soft I was tempted to glue it on my pillows. The bright green color was consistent throughout and really looked great with the satin gold wood and dark red branches with white flowers. Be warned there are small sharp twigs caught in the moss that could possibly become splinters in your hand. But there is so much moss to go around! Do not be fooled by the weight! After 25 centerpieces, we have a little less than half the box still remaining. 6 months later: I wanted to add to my initial review. It has been over 6 months since I made the center pieces (a success, btw). We saved a few of the centerpieces, and the moss has dried out, though still remains puffy looking. I noticed that the moss that was in very sunny rooms actually turned slightly yellower. I tried misting it with water, which rehydrated the moss, however I cannot say with certainty that the color will be fully restored.

I really like the Color and texture of this moss I use it for crafts and it’s nice to work with. I also put on top of my small plants looks great!

Because of the consistent colouring, if you want variation in colour, you will need to purchase another shade of green
