Used this Stark USA 61023 plate compactor to finish a large decomposed granite patio. The unit worked great and was much better than hand tamping. It probably saved me days of work. It does require some work to start when it’s cold. Behind the choke lever is the governor and you need to adjust that to get it going. Once it’s warmed up it’s a breeze to use. Recommend for medium sized and bigger jobs.

Only small issue is I have to hold throttle down while using it but it's very easy to do just wish it'd stay in place.other then that works great

must let it warm up before using or it stops. has no gas filter and no gas shut off = tank seems too low. It does a good job on flat ground, i have pushed it up a 30 deg slope, the handle did not fold while pushing that way. But the fuel to carb is on the right side so if you are on a slope to the left it dies... I made circles so that I was always moving across the slope to the right, keeping the gas tank tilted toward the carb. It is light enough for me to drag, but does pack crush & run to a very hard surface.I had to snug up most of the bolts on the vibaraitor as it was leaking, Price seems high for what we get, but it does the job.Later on I found that the carb is not the issue, it is the "low oil alarm" that shuts the engine off if it detects low oil. However, I was told that the sensor is most likely bad. We disconnected the sensor to test, ran 40 deg side to side and ran ok. -- bad idea to run it with out the sensor, could cause engine fail -- now I just need to find a replacement sensor.
