bought the book for my politics a level class.2 weeks later got kicked off the course and wasted 30 quid ;(

Genuinely goes into detail with things, politics teacher said it’ll most likely get you an A*. I purchased a budget revision guide and was told it’ll probably get me a C and to be honest it probably would.I recommend this one to anyone who wants to take their subjects seriously :)

This textbook is good for A-level UK politics. However does not include political ideas - which you would need to purchase a separate textbook specifically for.

I am politics teacher, and I will not use this book. This is because it is filled with material that is often confused, and sometimes facually wrong. The examples are too numerous to list. But the materail on the relationship between the ILP and the Labour Party on p77 in comical (the book claims that the ILP "formed an agreement" with the LP in and but the LP and ILP began to "go their separate ways". No, the ILP was central to the formation of hte LP and was affiliated to until 1932, and its leader for some of htis time was the leader of the LP, Ramsay MacDonald. Or the claim that the Taxpayers' Alliance is a sectoinal pressure group (i.e it is a membership based body represent it members, taxpayers). Eh, what? It is a campaigning group set up by the right wing think tank run as part of the group housed in 55 Tufton Street (the Instiute of Economic Affairs). This is not simply careless, it shows a deep ignorance of its subject.

Used for A level

After a terrific 5th edition this one is extremely poorly organised. It’s all the over the place, repetitive and does not deal with the key functions of Parliament at all well or clearly for students. The assessment of these functions and changing circumstances is also very weak. Extremely disappointed with this and would avoid.
