It’s a very good reel. Some people are just picky on their reviews.
Very happy with reel and its performance using 8 stand braid

great for the price, but get a size larger then you think u need
great reel especially for the price, the 5000 model I got is slightly smaller then my old 4000 so I'd say if buy at least a size bigger then u think u need. I see it for saltwater shore fishing and performed great, I would say they're pretty close in the ad and the drag resistance is close to 40lb. only down side the 5000 was not that large, maybe got just over 100yards of 20lb mono line on before it wouldn't hold another inch. for all purposes at that price I feel it definitely held up to expectations

These are great reels for the price, i only get a year or 2 out of it. But what do you expect right? I fish a lot.

Rust magnet.
Already rusty. Bought it and left it out in the rain one night. Went to use it for the first time today and noticed that the screws are already rusted. If it rusted from one night in the rain, this is most definitely not a salt water real. I wouldn’t even trust it in freshwater. Sad thing is I bought two reels from them a 6000 and a 7000.

No ball bearings and very sticky drag
Update of the update: actually reeling in line is very smooth now...drag still sticky/jumpy/not very smooth still but again...love the wooden handle and it looks great...use it for an ultra-light setup so sticky drag no bid deal.Update from below: I've oiled and greased it and used it a couple more times and reeling is much smoother and the drag, although still sticky, has improved with use so let's see how long it lasts...Hey it's cheap, small, light and I've caught several fish on it. But I highly doubt it has any ball bearings let alone 13 as advertised. I have a few reels with BBs and they are much smoother when actually reeling out on the water. At times it was sticky just reeling back in the hook. Also, it has a very jumpy drag, not smooth at all unless you set it very loose. But hey I love the wooden handle.

For Reels
I don't fish, and honestly I have no clue about fishing and fishing accessories, but I was eager to learn. This reel was perfect for me as a beginner. It is fairly priced for its constructed.....materials. I was always taught that you don't need the best equipment starting off a new hobby! Beats using a knot tied to wooden stick. I use the reel with a small telescopic fishing rod for camping trips, leave it in the trunk of my car.

Good Buy
I finally got the opportunity to use this real & surprisingly it had a nice smooth cast. The retrive was smooth as well. Can't wait to try it out again to see if it hold up to way it cast the 1st time using.
