For removing the retaining cap on Lock cylinders

It works with the Schlage B62N series deadbolts
This tool does work with at least some Schlage deadbolts. I have a Schlage deadbolt bought recently at Home Depot, p/n B62N V 619 (i.e., B62N series) and this tool works fine with it.I can't vouch that it would work on any other Schlage lock, because I don't own them. You must use the small end of the tool to remove the end cap. The large end, which looks like a castle battlement, will not work. The small end easily and cleanly turns the end cap. This tool is a lot cheaper than the official Schlage tool which goes for $34 to $38 on the net, so I'm happy to get it.

nice design
This cap removal tool has several good things going for it but the one that I like best is the length. The longer shaft has knurls which offer a very good grip between the fingers. The length offers the ability to re-key most locks without having to disassemble the entire thing to make it easier. It saves me time on every service call.

Works as advertised
Bought this to re-key three Schlage locks. Followed some online instructions and with this tool it went pretty smoothly.

a tool for only those who know how to use it
Unless you already know how to take a lock apart, this will only get you in trouble

Quality was a bit below average
The quality was below average for the price. I’ll be looking for an older one on the used market.

Works great and bargain priced
We have Schlage locks about 12 year old and this tool works great. Highly recommend, especially since its half the cost of any other I could find

Damaged item terrible
This is a warning to anyone who wants to buy one of these lock tools the thing is so sharp it’s already cut my hand I’ve only used it once it came damaged it came split it came with sharp edges this isn’t what was advertised on the picture the metal itself what it’s made out of isn’t worth a pound I paid £20 for a tool which looks like it was made in India
