Despite the stones wear relatively quickly (will try to use diamond coated ones), this is a very big step forward in chain/blade sharpening for households and even professionals. Chains are sharper as done with professional sharpener (big diameter stone) as it tends to overheat the material during process which leads to loss of metal hardness. The 12V sharpener also does save the teeth, not taking unnecessary much of material, so the chains will last longer. Please note, that working with dull chain will destroy it so far, that no sharpening will help at all - the cutting edges of chain will be rounded and the only thing, if any, You can do - is to grind away half of the teeth or even more. So - sharpening pays back not only with productivity of cutting itself! Don't be lazy and sharpen as soon as you feel its is not alright. Good thing to have if You sharpen the chains more often than once in a year. Yes, You will need 12V DC socket or car battery to use it, be aware of that! Instructions are simple, but lacks of main thing - depth adjusting instruction. Device as such - it is alright for price, but could be improved with time - feels like Made in China v.01... Fixing button does not seems promising, so be careful not to break it... The wiring becomes hard in cold - so, this is cheap PVC plastic, the motor heats up a lot during the job and so on. But, anyway, it is a big step away from annoying filing! Additional review after 1/2 year - Brilliant device! Diamond files give some "residual teeth" - a small metal layer on opposite side of grinded teeth - which does not affect sharpness really - they fall away after first cut, but make the sharpening process harder to control. Thus my advice - it is alright to use cheap Chinese files from well known website - they are cheap and do the job! Take more, that you have them on stock. Despite first device works I bought another one to last forever - so much I love it!

Excellent tool. Sharpened the blade in half the time and the guide made it easy to set the right angle.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I had an oregon sharpener that was about 30 years old and it was getting intermittent! The price was fair and if the original lasted 30 years that was good enough for me! We heat with wood and I normally use this kind of tool for sharpening just out of speed of getting a sharp chain fast. It came with various size sharpening stones to assure it could be used strait out of the box! Works great!

Me gusta mucho porque es muy eficaz para afilar las cadenas de la motosierra, estupendo para estar sobre el terreno genial, lo que no me acaba de gustar es que te tienes que comprar piedras para afilar, porque vienen de distinto tamaño y no me valen mucho, y podría tener una batería para poder llevar al monte ⛰️, pero es mejor de lo que me imaginaba, ya que me dedico a ésto
