Cute, & size worthy for a purse or car. Bright light & great magnifying view.

I find this magnifying glass amazingly handy and useful. For reading increasingly smaller print on product labels, removing ticks from an arm, or examining a mushroom gill for identification, it has ample magnification ability, but most importantly, the handy light illuminates what otherwise might be too dark to see. There are stronger magnifying glasses available, but this lightweight version is adequate for most uses. I have one I've been using for well over a year and it still lights up with no need to replace any batteries yet.

This is a magnifying glass, not a loupe—just so you know. And it is a bit bigger than I was expecting. Now that we have that out of the way, let’s talk about what is good about this device. It is very lightweight; you’ll hardly feel it in your pocket. It’s easy to use with or without the light. Open partway for no light, open all the way for the light. The light is bright enough to illuminate the object you want to see, but not glaring so you miss details. I got this to use in the field when hunting for cool rocks and minerals. I like to think I’m going to find a large gemstone, but mostly I pick up leaverites (as in “leave it right there”).

This magnifying glass is actually better than I anticipated. Lately half my purchases here have been utter junk - despite researching and reading reviews. This one - is not junk. The light comes on when you open it all the way - which I do not want - so I only open it part way. The magnification is better than the small printer's loupe because it has both a much wider view and a higher magnification. Is it 5x? I don't know, but it is large. I can hold it away from a quarter and fill the opening of the glass with the quarter and it is in focus. To me, that's very cool. I looked at a ladybug's feet while it walked on the window ledge and I could actually see the shape of them which I never did before. It is a little big for actually walking with in your pants pocket, but that's okay. It would fit neatly in a purse or coat pocket. Despite really liking this item, I can't figure out how some reviewers got actual photos of the size of the magnified object through the lens. When I took videos or photos, the scale through a camera/phone lens was far different (smaller) than to my actual eye when the image was in focus. How'd they achieve those images? Regardless, it works fantastic for my eyes - and that's the whole point of me having it. Perfect for tiny print on my battery banks (like 5 point font size! who can read that?) ... for food labels ... for seeds I'm germinating ... for looking at random interesting things like ladybugs ... snails in the aquarium ... and coins. I'm impressed. Would buy it again. Considering my luck with buying here lately, I'm really surprised. The only negative? It's plastic. Feels like it could be broken without trying awfully hard. For the price though you're not going to get aluminum or stainless steel with a glass lens - so it's okay.
