Double Wood Graining Rocker

Best graining tool by far. I have no experience painting wood grain and was able to paint my kitchen table on the first try. No one knows it is not really wood.

Well... as rockers go, it's guite similar... just VERY hard, which, I realize, might be to the tastes of younger grainers just coming up and what not... Plus, it's black.. I tend to reach for brighter colored rockers, red.. green.. brown on occasion..... but not black, certainly... All in all a pretty good black hard rocker..

This is a fantastic tool for giving the look of oak grain to a paint job. You can use either side depending on the width of your faux plank.

Attempted to use this device on a wall and it was a total fail. The plastic is so hard and ridged that even with a serious amount of pressure, it skimmed over my glaze only creating a pattern in some areas and not in others. Because of the unforgiving nature of the plastic, pulling the device while rocking it one way and then switching was rough and choppy making obvious waves in the pattern. I did not finish my project with this device and ended up painting over the ugly chopped up pattern it left me with. Not a good device for wall painting.

Not as easy as the rollers but also not as expensive. Loved it. Technique comes into play for the truly good piece of work, but this is 90% of the job!

This was such an effective tool and I would definitely recommend. The image shows part of a set design I did for a theatre production of Fiddler on the Roof. I layered a few different colours of paint on a piece of 3mm hardboard, sometimes Plywood, then put a thin layer of black paint on the grainer and ran the grainer across the material (rocking slowly as I went) to get this gorgeous effect!

This creates a brilliant wooden effect. Very easy to use. Paint a light brown colour onto your wood. Allow it to dry properly and then apply a darker colour of brown over the top of it. Roll this tool over the top and you’ll get a beautiful wooden ring effect. It’s very simple and effective.
