I bought this DeWalt brushless planer back in June 2020 and I’ve loved using it. It’s great for flattening high spots and doing normal planing work, and the brushless motor keeps it smooth and consistent. For a cordless planer, it has plenty of power and has held up well over the years. The only thing to keep in mind is battery life. If you’re doing heavy planing, it will chew through 2–4Ah batteries pretty quickly. For lighter passes or quick cleanup, though, the battery lasts long enough and the tool performs really well. Overall, it’s a solid planer for anyone already in the DeWalt 20V ecosystem. Reliable, easy to control, and great for woodworking projects.

I like to do some hand tool woodworking and I use this as a "cheat" to save myself hassle and energy with rough dimensioning. You really should use some earbuds or ear protection with it, and probably a dust mask (although I don't), but otherwise, it is great. Just like with hand planes, I add a squiggle or two of paraffin wax to the sole to make it slide more smoothly. This is the first time I have used a battery powered hand planer. It is so much nicer and safer than a corded power planer. Fair price, great quality, nice features, nice balance, and a 5 AH battery goes a long way. Highly recommended.

I am a SF cabinetmaker, and I also do specialized finish stuff. I have a vintage, spiral carbide, Rockwell plane that I use for doors, but this gets used for everything else. Not everything Dewalt makes is as nice as this planer (and I have a bunch of XR tools) but this one is sweet. Just quiet and smooth and leaves a glassy finish. This replaced a corded Bosch that I had for 20 years, which had a way better fence and could shoot the chips out either side. I almost didn't buy this because you are stuck with the chips going out on the right, but I'm invested in the 20v system so I gave it a try. It is so nice to use, I'm finding myself doing long scribes with it that I used to do with a jigsaw and even shallow scribes that I used to do with a belt sander or block plane. I'm kind of particular about how a tool feels ( Please Dewalt, make a drill as nice as this plane!) and I actually look forward to using this one. Every once in a while I have a situation where the chips have to shoot up and rain back down on me (yes, there is a bag which I threw away) and the fence is a useless afterthought, but if you're not doing doors with it, this is one of the nicer XR tools Dewalt makes. Also, I have to say, not having a cord on a plane is pretty awesome.

Máquina excelente, mesmo usando uma bateria de 5 amper e leve para manusear, silenciosa, potente e o mais legal é que quando desliga o motor tem freio para parada rápida, outro ponto muito importante dela é a saída para aspiração que já vem na carcaça da máquina, podem comprar tranquilamente, pois o único arrependimento que vc vai ter é de não ter comprado ela antes, rsrs.

Me encanta el rendimiento que tiene está herramienta y la facilidad y pureza que deja en el trabajo, apenas necesita pasar la lijadora después de cepillar, deja la madera impecable, recomiendo no forzar con niveles grandes de cepillado, incluso dejando el cepillo en 0 ya hace un muy buen trabajo de desbaste.. recomiendo tener 2 pilas para cargar una mientras de usa la otra
