Perfect for two pound loaves of bread.
I like this 2 lb size Banneton for oval loaves of sourdough bread. It is a nice size for sandwiches. My family likes a smoother crust so I use the liner. I let the liner dry and shake out any excess flour before using again.

FLOUR YOUR BANNETON (with rice flour)
Have only used the banneton with the cloth liner twice, none without the cloth. It works great. Just heavily flour the banneton and the cloth. Someone recommended rice flour, I concur. The rice flour I used is very finely ground and clings to everything (I brush the flour off of the finished loaf). The risen loaf fell out of the banneton easily and held its shape well (the wetter the dough or the longer you wait to put it in the oven the more it will spread). A nice alternative to a pan. For comparison, I used 500g of flour to about 340ml of water. I always have to add a little more water than what the recipe calls for (320ml) or else it's too dry depending on the types of flours used. This much dough easily fills the 13" banneton without over filling it.

Ungodly Smell
The basket smells horrible. I can't even use it because I'm afraid whatever is giving it this smell will impart it into my dough.

Perfect caddy for face masks
I bought this primarily to store clean facemasks near the kitchen door for easy access. It is the perfect dimensions to hold the pleated kind of rectangular face masks. And once the pandemic is over (Lord willing that's soon!) it'll be used as an actual banneton for short loaves.
