I was really nervous buying this because the other reviews kept mentioning how small it was and I was concerned it would be like some palm of the hand size type. I couldn't afford the more expensive Math Balance and I'm sure there are better quality and bigger ones but this one is actually a pretty good size in my opinion. Not so big that I'm in a wonderment of where to store it without breaking it down everytime and not so small that it's useless. I think it's great for our homeschool set up and although my son says it's smaller than his cousin's, he still thinks it's pretty cool and is currently playing with it and figuring out how it works :) Quality wise I think it's just fine also. I feel like this math balance met my expectations and at a great price too.

Works well for a 3-and-a-half year old. The "game" is to make it balance. Start very simple, then slowly introduce more things. e.g. First the game is just to make it balance, with each player adding (or moving) one blue piece at a time on each side. Then, take turns making "puzzles" for the other player, where one player has to place 2 or 3 or 4 blue pieces, and the other player has to make it balance with just 1 piece. Or vice versa. The kid should probably be able to count to 10, but math skills aren't necessary - they can start playing with this before that, and hopefully this helps develop them. The toy is pretty well made, light and compact. Easy to put together and take apart. By the way, there are four little white "balance" bits, but they just slide around and aren't needed at all. Just leave them in the bag; it balances well without them.

Great quality for the price. I was worried it wouldn’t be as strong as the brand one, but it works great for my children and their math lessons! It’s also not too big and bulky to store.
