Don't waste your time with something cheaper. This is a professional tool. All these great Fender sounds. I could add effects in the DAW, but they wouldn't even come close to the sounds generated by this little powerhouse. Biofeedback is important when you're playing guitar. You need to feel it while you play. You can't add your soul to the track after the fact. They don't recommend it, but I'm using a Hosa CMP-159 3.5mm TRS to dual 1/4-inch stereo breakout cable to connect the Mustang micro to my Focusrite 2i2 4th gen for recording. It works perfectly for me. So far, no smoke. But hey, I don't recommend it. Works great with headphones, and there are legit--Fender approved ways to record it if your not a risk taker.

What a cool little system for the money! The Mustang Mini is so simple to use, and the amp simulators are amazing. I love the Blue Tooth capability that allows me to play along with any song on my phone. I also record with my Mustang Mini. You might ask, "But you can't manipulate the effects parameters once you put the track down, since you haven't used plug-ins." Well, when I get a beautiful, clean sound that I like, all that's left is level. Right? Amazing little device!

Must have for every guitarist and / or bass player. This device is awesome with the multiple effects and every thing. I love the fact that it's a Bluetooth device. I can play the music from my phone or from another Bluetooth device. It's very easy to pair. You can't go wrong with this one! I love it!

Plenty of usable sounds with amp models and effects. And portable! Not for the color blind, the LED changes color depending on the effects, so you need to distinguish between orangy-red and pinkish-red etc. to figure out which amp/effects you have dialed in. Fortunately, there is a card reference so you can sort of look it up.

I’m so happy I learned about this product. When I want to rock on and heard the distortions and effects. It requires headphones to hear it which makes it quiet the kids wake up. Love it

Clean and diverse sound effects in such a small item is amazing.

I am a 36 year old father that loves to just play some bass in the small amount of downtime that I have, and have been looking for a headphone amp that I can plug into my iPad for Yousician and play with headphones. Holy crap this thing has delivered on that plus more. You literally just plug this into your guitar/bass, plug in headphones, plug in a usb cable to your ipad, phone, computer, whatever and you are done. Just make sure the input device is selected as Fender Mustang, then pair the Fender Mustang to the device via bluetooth so you have audio coming back through to your headphones, and you are done. 2 cables, no more spaghetti mess of cables to go from your PC, to audio interface, to amp, etc. And to top everything off, it sounds great going through different cabs for bass. Adding effects makes it even better, I play a MM Stingray and being able to easily adjust through different models and effects easily to find the tone I usually like was so easy. Price for this is incredible for what it can do. I like it a LOT, it's great for working out stuff in the middle of the night and the built-in effects make it so much easier to try different sounds. I can literally work stuff out while everyone else is sleeping. I haven't played long enough in one session to wear out the battery charge yet so I don't know how long it lasts. My only comment would be that the charging cord is pretty short. But since the unit is small it doesn't take up much room on my desktop. I wish I'd known about these years ago!
