Works OK
I have been using this thing for about 6 months now. It's well made and practical to use around the house (at least better than the pillows and books I was using before). Still, it's basically a sheet of rigid plastic with padding underneath, so I can't see how it would fail to work.A few issues:1. The Lapinator is very light but still pretty bulky. It's a lot larger than my 12" iBook (which is not that small). I never took it with me when traveling because I never had that extra space in my carryon luggage. That's a bummer.2. I had to add 3 extra smaller rubber feet to support the front of the notebook (to complement those in the back), because the iBook (like my other notebook, a Dell) gets hot mostly in the front. Also, due to the slight bending of the plastic board that the notebook rests on, it looks like there is actually less air circulation than when it is resting on a desk.

Weak Adhesive
As a college student who uses a laptop daily in and out of class I was looking for a simple lap desk product that was compact, that wouldn't warp or melt, and that would stand up well to travel and being stored in a crowded backpack. The Lapinator has fulfilled that role almost perfectly. Every day I shove this baby into a backpack filled with sketchbooks, textbooks, notebooks and snacks, and so far it has held up without any noticeable signs of wear, with one exception: the small adhesive rubber feet that come with it (which can be placed anywhere on the top surface of the Lapinator, which makes the product very customizable). The feet themselves are fine, but the adhesive that comes on them (already applied to them) is not strong enough to keep them on in a bakcpack environment. They kept coming off in my backpack, probably getting knocked or pulled off by the various bulky items the Lapinator was bunking with. This made the product useless until I tried gluing the feet on with super glue. That did the trick: the feet haven't moved since. So with that little problem out of the way, this product has functioned wonderfully. It hasn't warped or melted, it blocks heat very effectively, its light and portable, it fits in a standard sized backpack, and it holds up well to rough handling. I'm very pleased with the Lapinator and would recommend it to anyone looking for a lap desk, especially a college student or commuter, but I'd suggest they buy a bottle of super glue along with it.

Good... BUT...
This little lap desk is good for keeping the laptop heat off of your legs, and seeing as it does elevate the back of the laptop it does increase airflow. That is where the good stuff ends. If you have a laptop that tends to run rather hot, or if you tend to leave it running for extended periods of time; the plastic on top of the lap desk will begin to stink as though the plastic is melting/burning. The quality of the materials is cheap (feels like something you could make on your own for much less), but the pads are soft and they do their job well enough. All-in-all, not a terrible product, but for $25 I was hoping for something that would be of a little better quality; instead, I got a product that keeps the laptop cool but stinks up my home with the smell of melting plastic.

Love this product
I did a lot of research before buying this product and compared it to a lot of different brands. I've had my lapinator for about a year now and really love it.My mom bought a lapinator plus for her Dell laptop so she could use it in the car. She raved about how comfortable it was and how easy to transport. I decided to try one for my HP which vents on the bottom. Because my battery is in the back and tilts my computer forward, I put the adhesive bumpers in the front to allow air to circulate underneath.I like that the computer sits securely on my lap. It doesn't slide when I'm working on the couch or in the car. I use it on the table as well and it's nice that I can slide it without scratching my wood table, unlike the hard plastic models. I've had no issue with feeling any heat through the lapinator and the surface under the computer always feels cool to the touch. My computer is often on for over 12 hours at a time. When my husband's cooling mat (a hard plastic product with a fan) stopped working, I suggested he try a lapinator plus. He has a Toshiba that is a bit wider than mine and vents on the side. It does put out quite a bit of heat. He hasn't used the adhesive bumpers and the mat has worked perfectly for him as well.Incidentally, when I ordered my lapinator last year, the bumpers were missing from the package. Amazon wanted me to send the whole product back just to send out a new one that included a small bag with the adhesive bumpers. I called the lapinator company directly expecting to speak with a customer service rep. The gentleman who invented the product answered and was so nice. He sent me a package of bumpers right away without hassle.I've not used the additional mouse pad, so I can't comment on that. But, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the lapinator. It's been well worth the $25 I paid!

An Ounce of Prevention!
I mean it's a lap board. It's kinda flexy and it does well, I guess it was worth the price? I'd rec it to a friendbutI gotta warn you: when it says it comes with 2-4 of the little sticky-on pegs, it really does mean you might only get 3, but you'll get at least 2. No room for error when sticking them on!And deeeeefinitely be careful because it feels extremely squishable. Don't step on it!Bottom line: it does its job with my tiny netbook. I'd rec it to most people who have a NEW laptop that isn't already having major problems. This is definitely not a 'fix' it's a preventative! If your lappy is already overheating then this is not the solution for you, and I'd definitely not recommend it to really big machines or gaming machines. Get one of the more expensive boards that has a fan in it if you have those!
