Char-BroilHalf-Time Charcoal Starter

We absolutely love this charcoal starter. We have heard about these things but never bought one or knew how to use it. I bought it as a gift with a bbq pit for my husband. I don't think we will ever start charcoal again without it. It lights super fast and the coals ash over so much faster than with out. We can now bbq on the fly! The handle is far enough away from the bucket that you won't burn your hand at all. It is deep enough to hold a lot. this is a must if you love to bbq like we do. Get this and you will be bbq'ing a lot more trust me!

Husband needed a new charcoal starter. His old one was taller and thinner where this one is shorter and bigger around. I believe it holds about the same amount of charcoal, but he thinks the charcoal heated up faster and more even. We have a large cowboy grill and now we need both charcoal starters and sure enough the new Char-Broil one goes way faster. Probably will end up getting another one.

The Half Time Starter has held up pretty good for me so far. I think I've used at least 30-40 times in the past year so far and I haven't had it falling apart so far. Just the standard wear and tear from the heat but really, the metal is holding up just as well as the weber chimneys, which is probably an industry standard product. The handle does stay cool to the touch and I've never burned my hand.Only Complaint about this product so far is that bottom grate holding the coals has warped a bit due to heat.

Starts coals of any type with ease.If only I bought it sooner, I would still have all my hair!No brainer to use. These steps.1. Put on the grill top2. Dump in coals3. Light coals4-min later dump glowing coals into the grill and begin to cook.

Great air flow to keep the ember going. Great for searing steak while reducing waste of charcoal comparing to the typical charcoal chimney. There is some kind of coating that melt of during heating. I hope this is not some kind of cancerous material.

I purchased this because I wanted to start my grilling faster but was surprised to see that the base of the unit is half-way up the device. This means that a lot of the available space to add charcoal is wasted. Even though it has a bigger diameter, it holds exactly the same amount of charcoal as the smaller unit.I wish I hadn't purchased this. I need something bigger and faster than the standard starter.

Very good bang for your buck and the vented style makes it fire up the lump or briquettes fast as heck and is every bit as sturdy as my old Weber one is at 6 bucks cheaper at that 💜!!!
