🔺️🔺️ TERRIFIC AUTO MAG...SOLID KNOWLEDGE FOR 'REGULAR & $$ SUPER PREMIUM' AUTO LOVERS
I really enjoy this auto mag. Excellent knowledgeable writers about good to know auto topics. It does seem to cater to the high-end auto buyers 'somewhat'. I still enjoy reading about $100,000+ autos even though I would get financial headaches from purchasing one. I like the direct comparisons it does in every issue of 'regular cars' by class. They do a 6 month review in each issue of approx 6 different makes/models of cars they were loaned to write about-- a solid 6 mos of driving experience & reviews--each issue like this case, will feature approx 6 totally diff cars. Great way for potential buyer's feedback knowledge. I am going to get a new car wihin the next 6-9 mos & "MT" will be of big help to me. Many other car related articles to read. Never disappoints.....and I give it 5 stars!.....excellent pricing I received as well from my Amazon Prime membership. Go Amazon..I am a steady customer and mainly a happy one overall....however, I just 'knocked on wood' when writing this review. 😄

Great Magazine
I like MT much more than Car and Driver. They stay focused on cars and I like the stats they provide with each article. Have been subscribed for about 10 years and will continue.

Motor Trend Pros And Cons
I think the basic impulse for Motor Trend is to rank an auto according to its acceleration speed. How fast does it get to 60? A tenth of a second is world-shaking and important. So is engine growl. The men who wrote these reviews are reporters who try for a fair and logical assessment of the vehicle. They are not consumers who are shopping for cars. I can't recall an article that mentioned exactly what goes into a featured car? Not a word and buddy, that is essential and I'll tell you why. For 20 years I was the marketing director of a mid-size American luggage company. We made our product in the factory I worked in. So I was familiar with every part and every component of our manufacture. Then our owner went overseas to manufacture our exact product. Well it wasn't exact. It was far from exact. Instead of being carefully sewn it was stapled. When our suppliers ran out of basic components, they simply purchased different ones, inferior ones knowing our product would sell on its former reputation. A current example of the utter lack of principle is Toyota. It's a money game and Motor Trend appears to be in on the game by not scrutinizing manufacture and componentry. So I am naturally skeptical of imports because engine roar and acceleration numbers don't tell me a thing about the dependability of the hundreds of parts that assemble in a new auto. And before I spend twenty, forty or sixty thousand for a new car, I want to know a lot more about its manufacture. I often wonder what Motor Trend said about my Olds. I drove it without trouble for eleven years and sold it to a fellow worker who gave it to his son who used it for four additional years through college. And maybe beyond? otor Trend is still here and Olds isn't. Is there something wrong with that equation?velvetmanChapel Hill, NC

It's OK
MT has done a good job with their buying guide TO THE EXTENT THEY HAVE TESTED A SPECIFIC VEHICLE AND IT IS INCLUDED IN THEIR REVIEW. Seemed like lots of missing pieces which makes their ratings incomplete and, therefore, open to question. So, if your considering purchase of a model not included, you're on your own. As for the monthly mag, it is a good source of info should the vehicle(s) you're considering is/are included. Yes, I understand they can't buy and test them all (though I suspect they wish they could!). I'll keep reading.

Best of a failing Johndra
Better then the other subscription car mags. Biggest issue for me is that all mags include way to much writing about racing. I am not a fan of most racing and buy a car mag to learn about cars. If I wanted racing info I would subscribe to a racing mag. The other issue is way to much coverage of what has been coined as hyper-exotics. I am probably the only one but I'm not impressed. Any company can make a fast car for 500k - millions. For proof just look at the endless examples made by every company and even specialty companies like Saleen, Hennessey and others. Make a fast, great handling car that 75 percent of people can buy and I will be impressed.

A REAL car magazine
Motor Trend may well be the last old school car magazine....and that is a GOOD thing!! Some of the mags today have become fluffed up coffee table books. Lots of pictures and wasted whit space. MT is still the one to read if you want informative and entertaining articles about the cars you are likely to buy or at least wish you could. Still, and I hope always, the best.

Say what you may - I still love getting my MT every month. There is just something nice about leaning back and enjoying a good car magazine that a tablet or your phone can never give to you.
