Rhode Island Novelty 7" Wooden Train Whistle

I was reluctant to get these whistles because the reviews sounded awful but I decided to risk it-- the whistles are GREAT-- they make a nice Whistle sound and are fun. Granted-- they're not too pricey and so they don't have the low tonal sound the really replicates the train whistle sound-- but they do whistle and it works-- for a party favor at a 2 year old bday party-- it is perfectly fine.

I volunteer at Descanso Gardens, sometimes as a conductor in the miniature railroad. I have a train whistle of another brand, much larger than these are, and it works pretty well. I thought I'd take a chance on these, bring in a dozen of them for the other volunteers if they wanted them. I knew there was a chance these might not be any good, and they're just not. I'm not sure if it's worth the trouble to return them, but there really is no use for the stupid things. They come as close to not working at all as they possibly could and still work a little bit. They don't sound like a train AT ALL; in fact they don't sound like much of anything. It's a weak sound that just sounds like a regular whistle, with something wrong with it.

Ok so when I bought these I went through so many reviews to find the perfect ones. I have four kids at home. And the mothers for my birthday party have 2-3 kids at home. So when you buy whistles, sure you want loud... after the party; not so much. I wanted low sounds of whistles. These worked great. The kids learn to blow them and be "loud" as a parent when my 4 kids were blowing them all through the house, it isn't unbearable. Sometimes all that you get is air. Majority of time you get a low whistle. It is great for small parties and after the party for adults.

These were bought as a favor with the hats. They are smaller than what I had originally thought, but they are really nice- they are made out of wood so that the kids aren't going to break them very easily. Some of the whistles however had the holes not cut out all the way and it made blowing into the whistle a little harder, but the kids were in love with these and played all afternoon and many times after that with these!

We are having a Thomas the Train/ Thomas and Friends birthday party this year and wanted to be able to send the kids home with something a little more than just candy in a bag. These train whistles were perfect! They arrived quickly and were packaged as expected. The only thing I commented on was the fact that they were not consistent in sound/pitch. Some whistles were quite loud, others were softer (adults tested the theory so we knew it wasn't just a matter of how hard the child blew/age). It worked out though, we gave the softer ones to the older kids, and the louder ones to the little kids. The big kids could blow harder and get about the same sound as a little one blowing in theirs. If we do a train themed party again I will order these no question! Real wood, fast delivery, and every whistle has a printed train on it, great product!

We got these as favors for our trained themed 3rd birthday. They were perfect and the kids loved them. For younger ones it might be a bit difficult to make the sound but after a few tries they all got it. Made for cute pics and we had a unique and budget friendly favor.

AWFUL!!!!!!!!! I am returning these immediately. Bought 2 dozen of these as favors for a train birthday party and would be way too embarrassed to give them out. The picture on the whistles is MUCH different than the ones shown, and the sets I got say, "CHOOC HOO!" on them. What is "chooc hoo?!" Obviously cheap and made in China, with no editing, as a native English speaker would say "choo choo," not "chooc hoo." Aside from that, they don't even work. It's as if the holes aren't drilled all the way through so some of them don't allow any sound to come out. I should have listened to all the negative reviews and stayed away from these. They are terrible.

Every year, at work, we have a themed Christmas party. This year we did The Polar Express. We had so much fun. Everybody got a train whistle. We had a train set running through the tables. Our boss dressed up as the conductor. Even the caterers joined in on the fun with themed food and appetizers. It was a lot of fun and these were a great addition to our party.

They sound great for two tones.

I was hesitant when I first read the reviews, but as I want them for party favors, I decided to give them a try. Out of a dozen, I've got 8 that work just fine and 4 that don't work very well, but still, for the price they are fine for my son's party.

I used this for my son's Thomas the Train themed birthday party. What a delight to see the excitement on the kids faces! They knew what it was. Great product
