American Landmarks: Miniature Models to Cut and Assemble (Dover Origami Papercraft) Review: Great project! - Got this to work on my son's US landmarks project for second grade! Was fun and educational! Loved the miniatures Review: Tiny and Not so much fun for kids - This is a cool idea, but the models in the book are tiny. I'm an experienced model builder and I struggled to build these kits, and my kids lost interest quickly. Definitely not for young kids. I had to use a magnifying lens and spend tons of time with an Exacto knife to build even the simplest of the models. This would be great if it was twice the size and if any of the models had perforated edges--cutting them out of regular pages of a book was very challenging.

Tiny and Not so much fun for kids

Fun Activity Book
Landmarks in book are well represented across the country, including St. Louis, Seattle, San Antonio, Chicago, NYC. The models are small but when finished very real looking. I had fun putting them together. There were a few frustrating moments with the glue and the folds. The scales are all different, so if you are putting together a diorama the models will not go well. I have them placed together and give geography tests to people, to see if they recognize where the landmark is. I used a iris, or manicure scissor for lots of the small cuts. The exacto knife did not work as well for these cuts. So I do recommend the iris scissors if you plan to do this. Some of the parts will need a curve, use a pencil to for the curve. There are also some good tips for working with paper models at the end of the book. The little pins of the locality are very colorful and add much to the value. If you like miniatures you will definitely like this activity book.

Great little model book
Great little model book. I bought it for reference material for a larger model I'm building. Arrived in great shape and makes very nice mini models.

Nice idea, BUT!
Just received the book and returned it. Constructing these replicas would tax an experienced modeler with the patience of a saint! Not for a 10 year old as advertised. It would work if the replicas were many times larger and additional tabs, etc. were provided. As it is you have to glue bits of paper edge to edge.

Are you a history fanatic?
Do you love historical places? Are you the kind of person that, when giving a class, uses props? Then this book is for you. With plenty of U.S. landmarks to select from, like the Alamo if you are a Texan, this book will keep you entertained (and probably will make your lecture livelier) when you are making your very own model. The only downside if that the models are extremely small. I wonder if there is a printed version that is bigger than this one?

Flimsy
A little flimsy...easy to tear apart wrong.

Nice little model book here
Nice little model book here. Some of these are simple with just a few pieces to fold and glue, others are more complex. Seems there is something for everyone if you wanted to make these as a family. Homeschoolers might like these too! We are using them in a Christmas display of cardboard villages.

This little book was not as great as I had hoped. It is very small, and you need to go to the web site to get all the directions. So if you do not own, or do not have access to a computer this book is not for you. The book however gives you a great US History lesson. You need very fine scissors, and an extra strength glue stick to build these models. I am in love with Paper Toys, so I have enjoyed this book. A small shelf woud be handy to display the Models. If you are up for a challenge then this book is for you. Enjoy

Alle mehr oder weniger bekannten amerikanischen architektonischen Highlights als kleine überschaubare Kartonmodelle. Ich bin begeistert von diesem Kleinod in Buchform.

The miniatures come out superb. Just have patience. And use the precision cutter rather than than the normal paper cutter. And be careful with it. Use small curved scissors too for better cutting at certain areas. Use apna fevicol to stick the sides. Use flat pliers to hold for some time. And take your time while doing everything
