SmartHook 105 Garment Friendly Hook Rail (Antique Bronze)

I ordered Antique Bronze, and either the paint job is better than the ones on the bright colors, or it's actually made out of metal that approximates antique bronze, because the finish is lovely. Maybe the bronze paint blends in with the metal below and therefore hides evidence of a subpar paint job. Whatever the reason, we were spared any angst about paint. Mine actually didn't arrive with any defects whatsoever. It did arrive in a larger box with several other items, so perhaps the large box and air cushions spared it from a shipping mishap.I bought this to mount on the reverse of the bedroom door to hang things that don't get washed after every use, like, well, a great many things in my house, especially sweaters, since there's no reason to hasten wear and tear on things that don't usually even come into contact with your body, and jeans or thicker items that require some break-in after washing. For sweaters particularly, the garment-friendly hooks are excellent and don't cause dimpling. For jeans, I hang by the belt loop, but try to alternate which loop; alternatively, I button the waist but don't pull up the zipper and basically hang them by the open fly. Our bathrobes hang fine, since they all have loops, but would probably slip off if they didn't.Hanging was easy enough with a level, straight edge, and drill/screwdriver. You could probably eyeball it and get pretty similar results, but we're mathy-dorky people and we play with tools. Beware, though, that if your doors or doorframes don't hang perfectly straight (old house), the level will have you installing the rack level to actual earth, but the rack will look off-kilter level to the door. We did that with another rack, but fortunately it's not too far off. Now, we dress off of the door itself , assuming it's not far enough off level to be noticeable to the naked eye.Since we hung on a solid wood door, we didn't need additional hardware, but if you're hanging on a hollow surface, you'll need anchors, which are not included. I'm fine with that anyway, since I usually toss out the included ones and buy better ones at the hardware store, especially for something like a coat rack that could end up holding some weight.This is an excellent product for the money and I'd buy it again.

This smart hook is great to hang anything you wear above your waist., Example: shirts, sweaters, jackets, boluses, hats, etc., anything that has a collar to go over the hooks. I found that unless you have a belt in the pants or shorts, to hold the waist in place, the item will tend to slide off of the rounded hooks. It might be better to have the rounded friendly hook rails on the top and a less rounded hook on the bottom to hold denims and slacks. I know this was designed more for hats, caps, etc. and sweaters, etc., but hanging things that go around your waist do have a tendency to slide off. Therefore the 3 star rating.

My teenager likes to hang clothes on here instead of putting them away. It's pretty amazing how many items it can hold before I find out and make her actually put the clothes away!

I cant believe how well made and stylish this was for the price! I used it for towel hooks in my bathroom. We used our own specialty drywall screws in black instead of the included anchors and it worked great.

Very nice coat rack. Hooks are large and sturdy, the whole rack is very well made. The finish is really nice, I got it in the brown/bronze-y color. I especially like that it's made in USA and uses recycled materials.

The area in Kitchen only had studs that were too close. Since this is all metal I rolled the rack out to round instead of flat...shorting the length across to fit great. Looks great like a rubbed oil look and fairly strong if you screw into a stud.

Very impressed with the quality of these hooks. And a great idea that they are easy on the fabric. And made from recycled material. A triple win.
