Purchased this after much research, including excellent reviews by Consumer Reports rating Sound World Solutions CS50 '(Assistive Hearing Device' ) as an excellent alternative to outrageously expensive 'hearing aides'. After 2 months use in only one ear, I would have to agree. Besides fixed settings for 'entertainment', 'everyday', and 'restaurant', the unit can deliver a primitive hearing test to arrive at more tailored setting relative to your particular frequency loss. Really, I'm quite impressed with the level of clarity of speech that the CS50 delivers. As a side note, it goes basically unnoticed by others as it seems to be perceived as an earbud rather than a 'hearing' aide.By the way, I got into our hot tub at 104 F at which time it fell off. It took me a good 30 seconds to retrieve it as it swirled around in the full-force current. I thought it was toast, but two weeks later it is still fully functional.When I inspected it, I saw how tightly it was assembled, the only possible entry point being the opening in the earpiece. I guess I fished it out in the nick of time.
