Sprinkle to catnip over the cardboard insert It attracts the cats to scratch there and play with the ball. Lots of fun

Is the cardboard the same on both sides for scratching?

The only play side is the top side. It has a ball spin circle and the the scratching area in the center. Our cats love it!

Can the cats get the ball out?

Not often but our cats work hard trying. Only one of our 2 boys has removed the ball a couple of times (about 2 years) and he looked pretty proud when he did.
